What do you think is the best way to govern your country? i don't want to know the best form of government in theory, but what is most effective type in practice? Make sure to consider this question generally (that includes the best form to prosper its country politically, economically, and socially).Remember to hold your biases, don't just say, "Democracy cuz America is awesome." Use facts and real life examples to support your opinions. Here are some examples of a few types of governments:

    Monarchy

Monarchy implies rule or the power of government in the hands of an individual who has inherited the role and expects to bequeath it to the descendants. Currently there exist thirty-one monarchs reigning over forty-five extant sovereign monarchies in the world, sixteen of which are Commonwealth Realms that formally recognize Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state and Prince Charles as heir.

    Despotism

Despotism is the form of rule wherein a single leader rules the entire population and all his or her subjects are considered to be his or her slaves. The Pharaoh of Egypt is an example of this sort of rule. In case of contemporary contexts, the term implies tyrannical rule.

    Dictatorship

Dictatorship implies rule by an individual who has complete power over the country. Although there have been several definitions of dictatorship, broadly all the various types and forms of dictatorship tend to exhibit totalitarian characteristics. When the power of the government does not come from the people, is unlimited and tends to expand their scope of power to control every aspect of people's life, the form can be termed ad dictatorship.

    Oligarchy

Oligarchy is the form of government where a small group has the power to govern or rule.

    Plutocracy

Plutocracy refers to a form of government, which is run by the rich. A Plutocracy is a form of government, which is controlled by a small group of extremely wealthy individuals. In today’s world many political analysts argue there are still some situations in which private corporations and wealthy individuals have a strong hold over the government, which can be synonymous with plutocracy.

    Democracy

Democracy is best described by Abraham Lincoln as a form of government that is of the people, by the people and for the people. It is a form of government, which allows people to choose the representatives amongst themselves who are given the rights to form the government. A democracy usually has a standard Constitution that confers certain rights of freedom and expression (and many other rights) to its citizens and expects certain duties from them and a uniform law to govern the entire nation.

    Communist Government

Communist Government is a form of Government in which the state is governed by a one-party system. This form of government works on the lines of Marxism-Leninism. Thus, the state and the communist party claim to act in accordance to the wishes of the working class or the peasantry. Although a communist government claims to implement democratic dictatorship of the proletariat, it tends to incline towards the abolition of the state and implementation of communism.

    Theocracy

Theocracy is the form of government, which implies rule by a religious elite.

*There are also sub-forms of various types of government (e.g. limited democracy, constitutional democracy, Direct Democracy, etc).*

Overall, I think that Democracy is an epic win.
The people get to vote for who they want, it's that simple.
The person(s) that convince a majority of the country to vote for them get government. It shows how the people are interactive with the government and not just living with it like they would a dictatorship.

Well, you wouldn't believe it, but in a way Britain has some theocratic ideals. For those Americans, the British form of Congress is Parliament, and the House of Lords is the most influential house (the other is the House of commons). The Church of England has direct representation in the House of Lords. Source
Other theocracies include: Andorra, Bhutan, Tibet, Islamic republic of Iran, and Vatican City.

Well the longest running Gov't still around today is China and.... well they wern't Communist for most of the thousands of years they have been around they were more of a feudal/monarchy for most of their time around. But IMO Oligarchy is the best even though not many countries can successfully be an oligarchic state.

Democracy is a terrible form of government, but it's the best one there is.

There's no right way to govern people, because humans always shift toward a natural state of anarchy.

Out of all the forms you mentioned democracy is still the most effective. It actually creates a balance among the government which gives none of the branches more power than the other. With bad dictatorship, comes a disrupt government because you are leaving the sanctity of that country in the hands of one being. If that person does not suceed then the country can come to a downfall. As for the other government forms, some of them I didn't even recognize. Still democracy/socialism is the best.

I'm not sure about plutocracy, but he said that it was like companies running the country... so idk, saudi arabia might classify b/c it is run by the oil kings. As for theocracies, they are all over the middle East. Saudi Arabia is also an example of a theocracy, along with Iran. I'm not sure exactly what other countries would be classified as theocracies, but as most of the middle east is not very fond of Christians and Jews, many of their countries would fit in.

    Democracy/Socialism is easily winner.
I wish the USA was more socialist. I don't want the government to have more control, but I think more taxes is worth it for free healthcare for everything. In fact, I'm Jewish, but I have no doubt that Jesus would have been a big socialist/ communist.

    None.

I would leave the thread just stating that one underlined word, but that would be spam. I believe our government is ****. A bunch of corrupt rotting corpse's in my opinion. I love the idea of having freedom, overall freedom. But of course, there would still be army's, police officers, firefighters, etc. I guess that would be my own perfect little world.

You don't understand how stupid this is. While the people might not be to your liking who are in power, overall freedom is just silly. You say there would be an army, but the army would stand for nothing but a bunch of lawless people. There would be no one to command them, pick their leaders, and people would feud. There would be loose governments everywhere and next thing you know we would have separate communities warring against each other. This might seem a bit extreme, but when there is little order in society, or when people see a problem, every little bit contributes into an escalating problem.

Well, anarchy is the only one humans will always revert back to for numerous reasons whether it be lack of good judgement or something else such as lack of brain power. The one that stays around the most is the best. Not that I like it though...

Democracy FTW. I'm saying this because a government run by the people has to be the best one out there. Sure it's not perfect, but a government ruled by the rich? I think they would more use their power to tend for themselfs and somewhat ignore those who are in poverty. And the best form of democracy is direct democracy IMO. Google it.

Believe it or not, almost every country in the world is run with some kind of a Plutocracy government, whether the government its self is ruled directly Plutocracy or not there it is still influenced by it. Watch this movie and you'll understand what i mean... Its quite long but very interesting, well worth a watch.

alex jones end game - Google Video

As for what Government, i personally prefer Democracy, although its not perfect, its still a good form of Government.

A loose form of Democracy, with high taxes on the rich and low taxes on the poor, but with a more socialistic feel to it, such as the government owning 1/4 or 1/3 of the crops in a country (note that I did not say America) so it's people will not go hungry when a recession or depression occurs, and own a fraction of it's resources so when it is in need, it can be easily accessed. The country would remain neutral, but friendly to all countries to promote a better world view of the country instead of the "its a communist country, keep an eye on them" feel that most socialist countries have.

Kinda sounded like USA though. I was thinking of the USA, China, and Switzerland when I was posting this.
