MAP Middy Created by XxMrMojoRisinxX Supported Gametypes: Supports all gametypes Map Description Yeah, I know another remake. Thought some of you might enjoy this. I tried to stay true to the original. Most weapons, spawns and objectives are as authentic as possible. I removed all but one needler. I left the one on top of the Carbine base and replaced the others with SMG's. I also replaced the plasma pistol in pink one with a Carbine. I put a mauler in place of the shotty at bottom mid. You can still get on pink three but there's not as much cover. Most of the jumps still work and you can climb the front side of Carbine base. Looks good but more pictures would really help us understand and see the full remake, because at the moment you only have4 pictures and so we cant see the whole map I'll edit this post when you add more pictures and give you a review then
Not only is your download link broken but the link you were trying to link is linked to your fileshare, not to the actual map. THIS: Halo 3 File Details is the actual link you want to use. please edit your original post with the proper link. anyways, im going to be downloading and checking it out. =) edit- i checked it out in Forge, it looks pretty good. i found one spot where you can grenade jump out of the map, but it doesnt do you much good except for a hiding spot. looking forward to playing on it.
Looks like a good remake but not entirely sure based on only 4 pictures. I'll download the map and provide feedback in a bit.
it's good, but the sword platform doesn't look quite right, and why did you change the weapons? you should have made it an excact remake, you were so close! 3.5/5 but only because the weapons were changed
I didn't think four needlers would work as well. You can't dual wield them in Halo 3. The SMG's seemed like a better choice to me. I did leave the needler that spawns on top of Carbine base. I replaced the shotgun with a mauler because I wanted the sword to remain the main power weapon. The H3 shotty overpowers the H3 sword in my opinion. I replaced the plasma pistol with a carbine because the plasma pistol just isn't what it used to be. It was all done with gameplay in mind.
I can say I mostly agree with your weapon substitutions. I'll take a gander at your map once I get my xbox back (waiting patiently for 3 weeks now). --dc
extremely well done, good weapon placement, still has that small cramped yet familiar feeling. 9/10 because you can still get out of the map, but you can probably fix that easily
Not bad at all, I downloaded it and think that its a very good remake, weapon placement is good but the sword is a rather dominating weapon for such a small map, maybe if you had a smaller power weapon in the middle. Well keep up the good work, 3.9/5
Well, the bases, middle, and overall core layout is fine. However, P-tower and Carbine side lack substance and feel thrown together. For example, on Carbine there are those seashell's (excuse my feeble knowledge of the Sandbox pallet) on the front of Carbine 2. Had those been solid blocks that area would have felt settled and protective. But since the seashells were angled, they gave an awkward presence and allowed for grenades to be caught underneath them. Also, the walking space is not large enough on Carbine 3, forcing the dropdown to Carbine 2 to be gargantuan, which is a problem because there was not a dropdown located there on Midship. Moving on to Pink Tower. Like Carbine, this feels terribly cheap. Let's be honest, it's two angled blocks capped off with a seashell. What made Midships P-Tower so great was it's ability to function both as a camping spot and a nade hole. This just feels like a tiny Onslaught tower that you blow by to get from one side of the map to the other, as opposed to a structure you can control in a team game. As a semi-room based map, Midship offered places to safely navigate your team around, especially in objective games. But I think these crucial characteristics have been overlooked in this remake. You gave a great effort into this remake, I can see that. And it can only get better with the consideration of Midship's stronger characteristics.
Carbine base originaly had more cover. I had to modify it and several other areas for budget sake. I had thought about not posting this map because midship is not a map that can be perfectly made in forge. After thinking it over I decided to post it because it actually plays very well. But if you want an exact remake you'll probably have to wait until this fall. The map Heritic is said to be a midship remake. In the mean time if you want to play customs with your friends on a map that looks and feels a lot like Midship then this one will work just fine.
after playing on it, i felt the spawns were wonky and there was way too many plasma nades. the layout isnt perfect, but it does have a midship feel.
Looks good but supposedly Bungie is already remaking this map. This definitely looks good enough to hold people over until then and give them newbies a taste of an old school classic.
Played on the map yesterday. it looks at plays pretty close to the original. If you've got any budget left over, i'd add a couple of orbs to help differentiate the sides, and place a structure over both sets of grenades at top needler, and maybe add some fusion coils if you want be as close as possible. 4/5
ive been looking around and running customs on just about any sandbox map that catches my eye, and this one is definetly in the top 10 for playability, just because it supprisingly works for 4v4 gametypes, if it is possible for you to make the map bigger and block off the rest of the map (A roof might be the best solution) if would be absolutely perfect.
