Okay so i'm running OpenSUSE 11.1 right now, and i'm switching to Ubuntu. Whats the difference between Ubuntu and Kubuntu and all that ****? I'm switching mostly because it's harder finding support for openSUSE and everytime I go to google something for opensuse it's impossible to find it, and Ubuntu comes in my searches quite often. So tell me what. Whattup guys? Which one is it? Kubuntu or Ubuntu?
My friend uses Ubuntu and says its the best. He's a major nerd too, so I would trust him on that. Just my slice of advice.
I only like Ubuntu because like Vinny said, there's tons of support for it. I use a variety of distros, but Ubuntu has the most documentation in my opinion. Edit: Actually, Fedora is pretty neat too. It's the 'free' version of Red Hat Linux, in the most literal sense. Incidentally, the lead developer for the Fedora Project was an alumni from my school. I found that out from my local OSEF director and my tech teachers. @Vinny: Ubuntu is the Ubuntu distro with Gnome. Kubuntu is Ubuntu with KDE. I'm pretty sure you'll want Ubuntu. Edubuntu is the educational version of Ubuntu, whatever that means. Xubuntu is a heavily stripped down version of Ubuntu that requires very low minimum requirements; ideal if you plan to install it on several crapboxes. The server editions are just plain CLI. You wouldn't need that at all, unless you plan to actually do ****.
ubuntu kubuntu, dude I could make a song out of that. i saw a ubuntu in the wild 911 was dialed Then a kubuntu showed up and I said wazzup YEAAAAHHHH!!
