So I would like to merge tunnels into the map geometry on Sanbox. I have seen doors used on Foundry to accomplish this task, but I am not sure what works on Sandbox. Can someone help?

I would also like to know this. The geomerging on Utah Mambo was superb, I wish I knew the shortcut to do it. I miss doors.

Nothing on Sandbox is like the door on Foundry, so you have to use the old school method found here. This method requires you to cover every side of the object you are trying to geomerge with either reciever nodes, or any other immovable object that is solid. You then make that object not spawn at start, and place another object floating above where the other object was. Making sure to place it however far into the ground you want the object to go. Spawn the object you want to geomerge. Grab the object, and while still holding onto it, save changes, and end the game.

Or you could use the slightly easier, but less accurate method founded by Zanitor and Furry: Geo-Tapping.

    Hope that helped!

Wow, that sounds really annoying, and tedious. My respect for Utah Mambo just rose even more. Forge update with doors for Sandbox please? I'm lazy.

I don't really see that happening.
    1) Doors' textures don't blend well (at all) with Sandbox'
    2) Bungie is working on ODST and next map packs, I don't think they'll go making an update or expansion kit for already released map packs. Not free, anyways.

Yeah, I have no delusions that it will really happen, but I can hope right? I'm sure Bungie has some idea floating around for a 'door' that will fit in on Sandbox, like a door sized chunk of stone.

it really is better than using doors in my opinion, i always even used this method on foundry. more accurate, and it really doesnt take too long once you get good at it.

    I agree.
I used to always use the door, but now I use that method. It really makes thing easier to be honest.

I'm not entirely sure if this would work or not, but the Kill Ball is sorta similar in the way that the door was solid but it partially went through things, the Kill Ball has a solid core but the rest goes straight through things. It may or may not work, i haven't tested it but if it hasn't been done it's worth a try right?

That might actually work. It would be a ***** to use them though. I'd die all the time.

    Well said.
I think that even if it would work, it would be to big to merge smaller objects, and it would just get in the way more than it would actually help you out.

Hey need to geomerge try the wiggle method you can just wiggle them into the ground now i know i sound sort of weird but if you apply pressure to an object (easiest= double box) and wiggle the object between the grid and the dark sand then it will eventually sink into the gorund then you can adjust and save changes. Its not perfectly precise but hey it worked for my map

That way is really glitchy and you never get the exact result that you want. Or al teast that's been my experience with it. And HLG, the door way can be a little faster at times, but its a lot less precise then doing the standard method.

You should be able to do the door method with any object. All you need to do is brace the object your going to geomerge. Interlock an immovable object into it. The rest is the same as the door method. The tear-drop method works fairly well too. Rotate an object until you have it the way you want. Let go of RT and without pressing it again drag the object across the surface you want to interlock with. Without letting go save and quit. This works because when the game saves it saves the current X, Y, and Z values of the object. When it gets to saving the rotational variables it saves the values of when you last let go of RT.
