Cool looking map man, Not including the gameplay here but man this just looks like a great ancient battle field here. this is how a sandbox map should look, they gave us these cool looking objects for amazing features like this, I would love to try it out but bungie.net isnt letting me on.
You can play Slayer or orginal CTF if you want. I'm going to set it up for Assualt and territories here shortly.
Umm, actually no he wasn't. He asked "is this set up for CTF, or SLAYER AS WELL?" But nice try on a putdown. As far as the SANDBOX map qualifier- WHO CARES- Is anyone making maps anywhere else right now?? And I won't chill- I'm tired of countless reviews based on a few pics. You don't even have the maps yet and you are a critic? Most reviews like that are completely off and uneducated. It was meant more at all of them in general than just that one. Someone comments on the grav lifts and how they "could probably get you out of the map." Really? If you checked the map out you'd know. I didn't feel like going back and quoting every post like that, as there were a few. I don't appreciate BASELESS comments, and i doubt map makers who spend countless hours on them do either- good or bad. All that aside- I did check out the map and give it major props. Aesthetically it's amazing. I love the way it's comletely enclosed. The windows with shield doors on each end and the outer pathways are very nice. The lighting, as evidenced in the pics, does give a truly authentic and different feel. Doesn't feel like you are in the crypt at all. I also disagree with those not liking the flamethrower. This map will be so fast paced, that anyone with the flamethrower will be easily killed- so it's a heavy risk reward... but nonetheless fun to mess with I guess. That part surely does remind me of Gears of War 2 actually. My one minor gripe was that possibly a small box on either side to make it easier to jump in the side tunnels would be nice. It's not that tough to jump in there- but you kind of have to pause for a moment- which on a small map like this could lead to instant death. (Maybe that's what you intended as a risk reward for tring to use the outer path?) It's also one thing to say I'll download- quite another to actually keep it. This map I will actually KEEP on my hardrive and I look forward to actually playing it. 5/5
The grav-lifts launch you up, but the obelisks directly above them send you at a 90 degree turn straight towards the wall on the other side of the hallway. It's the only way to cross up there without having to jump down and back up the other side. If you get really clever, there is a way to get on top of the obelisks, but chances are very rare of doing this, plus I'm sure the opposing team will kill you first while all of your attention will go to doing that. That would be awesome! I will have to take a look, was it in forge? or in an actual game? If it was in forge it will spawn you anywhere. 1) Haven't tried it out yet, going to in a few mins. I put the flamethrower in there because I think this might be one of those few maps to where it fits in quite well, if it doesn't, I will probably replace it with a shotty or hammer. 2) I'm going to go fix those spawns right now, that annoys me. 3) The grav lifts are more for show, they are not really there for that use. And I know you can get out of the map, but it will be extremely hard to do that in an actual game. I might make a fix.
yes it was in slayer....there were just 2 starting points on the outside of the map thats all if you can fix it without taking away the feel of the map then do it. i hate when people will look for every lil gamebreaker. it will not help you in getting out of this map cuz theres nothing out there lol if you play with people who get out of the maps then dont play with them simple as that lol Oddball would work great to
The 2 Spawns outside the map has been deleted and I fixed the download link to the newer verion of the map. Here in a sec I will add more screens.
Myself and soulcrusher origanally started this map in foundry (actually i made a rough draft of the map basically, and soulcrusher helped me start to perfect it). before we finished the finally map the mythic map pack came out opening new gameplay, maps, and a better "foundry" of sorts. Before jumping on the chance to remake my map he made his first forgehub map, "phobos". After its completion he delighted me by telling me he was going to start on my map again, but on sandbox this time, i was thrilled. Soulcrusher (being the better forger of us two) kept me in the dark about its look for most of the time of its creation to suprise me. After seeing it for the first time i was in awe. He basically remade the mayhem of joust (a 1v1 CTF map for unreal tournament 2004) but with a halo twist. After the first game of 2v2 i played on this map i found myself fiending for the addiction of this map worse than crack itself. we played 5 straight games and not once did the intensity slow down and the adrenaline stop pumping. (Granted yes my opinion might be slightly bias due to the fact that soulcrusher is a friend and this is my idea turned into gold) I highly recomend this map for CTF fans, fans of chaotic battle, and everyone in general. I give this map a 5/5
After playing with you guys for a bit- I can vouch for that. It certainly is organized chaos, and very fun. If you guys are ever playing and see me on- send an invite.
Just checked it out in Forge, I love the aesthetics. Its a gorgeous map. It seems like it would be too chaotic for me personally but I'm hoping to try some rounds on it later tonight.
I think 3v3 is the perfect amount of players for teams. Its pretty intense through out each round. Once you get used to the layout it usually becomes a standoff for some intense fighting!
This map is very unique compared to many other sandbox creations. nice job. sweet gametype you made for it too. 5/5
The best part of this map is the aesthetics, but that is about it. You only have one path to go on this map and that is straight. I would go into the details of why this won't work well but I don't feel like it right now. Close off the side tubes and this is could be a conquest map(not a good thing for a normal competitive map), unless that was your idea but I see no mention of conquest in your post.
Yes dont rate your own map, that is what new members that dont know what to do do. So please don't do that or you will get made fun of,lol. But I really like the coloring of those pics, I will make sure to download this tomorrow
Only being able to go straight is the whole point it gets you into the fight right away. You should play the map a couple times and see what its like before you start saying why the map wont play well.
Great aesthetics!!! You make it look like its easy to bring out those colors. I know it can be hard to make all those bland orange/gray blocks look like that. Really well done!
You can have a map that gets you to the fight right away without being one straight line for the entire map. But i also see your point in that this was not designed off a halo map so it would have different gameplay, not the best in my opinion. Not my taste however, doesn't mean the map is not alright. Who said I didn't play it?
yea thats just it. in the original unreal real tournament map(Joust) it was just one hallway, and unreal was fast past chaos which this tries to achieve and it does rather well
I'm thinking Red Cell is a misnomer... How about renaming it to..."Drop-Dead GORGEOUS?" Love it, man, love it.
