Smashing objects

So, I'm new here and didn't have time to read through all of the guides. But I was wondering how you "smash" objects into the ground. Like, on I wanna say Ephasus, there's a Single Box Open that is partially underground. How do you smash the item under there?

All you have to do is combine these tutorials and you can make a very nice racetrack but some destination tips would be nice and go look around and you post a guide if you want one so bad.
