A Yale University student from Ohio has filed a lawsuit seeking $1 million from US Airways for a video game console he says was taken from his luggage.

Twenty-one-year-old Jesse Maiman alleges that during a flight from New Haven, Conn., to Cincinnati in December, his Xbox 360 with a specialized hard drive disappeared from his luggage.

Maiman says he got what he called "an unconscionable run-around" from the airline. He's asking $1,700 for the loss of the gaming system and for the maximum damages allowable, or $1 million.

Maiman filed the suit Monday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.

A US Airways spokeswoman said the airline was unaware of the suit but noted that the government limits liability for lost luggage to $3,300 per bag.

So in my opinion I personally think this guys logic is insane. Seriously suing an Airline company 1,000,000 dollars for his Xbox is just of the ordinary question. He either wants $1,700 including additional money for any damages or $1 million. Usually when you here stories about people suing for completely idiotic reasons this is one of them. Yeah, I can understand he wants his Xbox back but I just don't get where it is necessary to sue for $1 million.

I found about this surprisingly through my dad. He found it in the newspaper. I currently have the article scanned and on my computer. If anyone is interested in seeing it I will post.

I mean, i would have probably done the same thing. I don't know what i'll do if someone had misplace my xbox. So was it the airline's fault for losing his xbox? I was kinda confused. It said he was missing his xbox from his luggage, could someone have stolen it? It was probably sticking out of his luggage.

Really no one knows where it is at. But what it says means what it says.
The Xbox was simply no where to be found when looking through his luggage.

Where would they hide... it..... *zip* Oh that's where I kept my laptop.

This guy is obviously being greedy asking for 1 million for a 300$ console. Seriously if you're going to Yale and already had a 360 you are probably rich so stop bitching.

I totally agree. I would just ask for a new Xbox, or the money to buy a new one. This guy's an ass.

If he's asking for that much I don't think he's going to Yale, or if he is, he's probably trying to get a mil to pay them for education cause lord knows Yale is extremely expensive. Also, from the demand of the Xbox at $1,700, it has to be heavily modded. I wonder if it's able to play other system games. Anyways, I'm sure he's asking for 1 million so he can get it diamond encrusted or something stupid.

Why didn't he just complain and get a new Xbox? £1 million would be nice, but he isn't going to get that much...

EDIT: Do NOT post that newspaper scan. It will probably get you a hefty infraction/ban. Check the rules on illegality.

haha he probably stepped outside of Yale and into New Haven for the first time, without realizing New Haven is sketchy as hell and left his bags somewhere and got his xbox stolen.

It was probably one of the baggage handlers, figuring they'd get a free xbox.

Why do you guys care if he's asking for 1 mil anyways? Nowadays, that's only going to last him about 3 years.

See the reason that situations such as this, were if he were to get the money that he greeds for eventually the money will run out due to unreasonable purchases and usually most people now a days quit their job there for there is no fixed income.

If i lost my xbox on a flight, i'd sue them for 1 mil the second i found out.

But on the otehr hand, this guy is a bit over the top. Jeez 1 mil for a special xbox.

Wow, that is a very interesting story indeed. But I highly doubt this lawsuit is going to go anywhere.

He could be an mlg pro player, and lost a lot of money and is claiming what he beleives is fair, I think hes doing a good thing, a bit stupid, but hes standing up to the airlines and saying stop ****ing looking through our luggage and nicking it, install sec cameras so the bag handlers can do ****...

Hmmm, airline either pays 1,700 dollars for a special xbox or try and get sued for 1 million dollars. I would let him try to sue for the million dollars and drag out the court case so he has to spend a bunch of money to stay in court. Seriously the airlines should just give him what the xbox was worth. Unless of course they have something of a disclaimer saying anything lost we are not accountable for.
