Ascension A direct remake using Sandbox. Well, "remake" being "I think this is what Ascension was like in Halo 2..." You'll find no rotating dish in the center, but I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. The layout is pretty faithful to the original map, only missing a few railings, which I would love to have added had I not hit the object limit. The map is configured for every gametype. Stuffs on map: 4 Battle Rifles 2 Plasma Pistols 2 Spikers 2 SMGs 1 Needler 1 Sniper Rifle 1 Shotgun 1 Magnum 1 Rocket Launcher 6 Plasma Grenades 1 Power Drainer 1 Bubble Shield 1 Regenerator 1 Overshield 1 Banshee 1 Machine Gun Turret (Asymmetric gametypes) If you're wondering how you're supposed to take the Banshee down: Plasma Grenades, Power Drainer, Plasma Pistols, or really lucky Rocket. It's pretty hilarious to watch your friends get their Banshee zapped by the Power Drainer or a charged Plasma Pistol shot to plummet to their death. I loved Ascension!!! This remake looks pretty good. A few things that could be tweaked here and there, but other than minor details this looks like a great remake. Maybe make the bridge out of something other than planks is my only critique.
This looks simply amazing! I am proud of you. I think this will do for now, but I know someone out there is making ridiculous remakes, and yours is the best Ascension that I've seen. 5/5
As far as accuracy goes, I recognize everything that was in the original ascension, so I say it's a successful remake. It's just a bit small compared to the original, because of the object limit of course.
This map looks fantastic, other than being slightly smaller, and not blue, this looks pretty damn close to the original. I like how the structures are look exact. You should try merging a little more, (walls, rocks, small details, the gameplay is great.
Ever heard the saying Small but Effective. Well that is your map. Its small but it flooded me with memories! Great use of interlocking to bring back certain features like the archway over the needler and the similarity of the tower. Good job and a DL from me!
This map was well forged, and fairly close to the original. My only complaint is shared by other remakes I've seen, and that is that Big Tower and Mini Tower aren't directly across from the center, they're on a 65° - 75° angle. Other than that, This is a pretty good remake, and pretty close to the original.
yeah, I've been working on an ascension remake since the release of the mythic map pack, it's gonna be awesome and should be ready in about 2 weeks. and yeah this is a good remake and will do until I release my map
Well it looks like you're going to have some competition because I've also been working on an ascension remake since I got the maps. Hopefully I will be done this weekend. To the OP, other than size and, like you said, no center piece, this seems to be a pretty accurate remake. Good job.
I was waiting for this map to be re-made. Great job, please do a much better one though. I believe that an excellent remake could make it to Bungie's Favourites
I loved Ascension - and I commend you for trying to remake it - but I just don't think this does the trick. I recommend an effort to make an original map with influences from Ascension. Don't get me wrong - a remake of the map really can't get much better than what you have done.
great job. it doesnt have the same feel, but it plays out the same. i cant wait to re-make tower of power using this.
Spam much? Anyways, this sis probably the best remake of Ascension I have seen yet. I might be wrong, because there are plenty. Also, there are definitely going to be MANY in the future. But this one stands out. It seems like things are a little scaled down, am I wrong? Did you hit the item limit? My only complaint besides that is that the wood bridges look like crap next to the rock, no offense. They just dont fit. I would use some other material. Ill give it a 4/5 for now, DL and check it out, then report back And maybe I'm stupid, but what is Tower of Power??
Yeah, I hit the item limit. The wood bridges could easily be swapped out for double walls, but I love the sound the wood bridges make when you jump onto them so I went with them. Like I mentioned before, I made this from memory (I didn't fire up Halo 2 or look at any screens/videos). Getting things to exact Ascension scaling would've been very time consuming, whereas I made this in about five hours. For those of you making your own versions of Ascension: I can't wait to see them. If anybody is going to invest that extra time and effort to get super proper scaling... I don't know how you're gonna do it with the budget and item limit, but extra luck to you.
It's great, but the big tower is definitely flawed to much with the top, and the walk way from that tower to banshee pad looks horrid as wood planks. I'd also recommend adding a wall to to the top of the portal hallway. It could use some changes, but it's still good non the doubt.
it's a variant in halo 2 where theres a machine gun turret on the tower, and everyone has shotguns and no shields. its slayer, but the objective is to take and hold the machine gun tower as long as possible, allowing the machinegunner to rack up kills. i was playing it just yesterday (on halo 2) and got like 40 kills in one go on the turret.
I was wondering whether or not someone would attempt a remake of this favored H2 map. I'm glad you were the one to do it because it looks pretty true to the original. A download for sure. 9.5/10
yeah it is pretty good but the rocket spawn is wrong on this one, and it isn't far enough off of the ground because you can't fly the banshee underneath the platforms sticking out of the rock that easily...
Ya i agree maybe change the planks to something else , i always wanted a remake in forge of this map a couple tried but since you couldnt fall off map they just didnt feel right . this remake is awesome and i cant wait to check it out when we can download maps (dlc) whenever they let us .... anyway great job and i cant wait to play tower of power on this map..........
