Well, since I acquired the mythic map pack, I've been working on an increasingly epic Sandbox map, but I have run into an old problem. My nemesis, the bane of my existence: The glitch that makes certain items I place move after I save and end the game. The glitch happened to me on Foundry too with interlocked double-boxes placed on their sides and with floating, vertical walls and bridges. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/halo-forge-discussion/12259-what-hell-really-annoying-bug.html -This thread explains the glitch more in depth and with screenshots if you don't quite understand. But now the same thing is happening to me with horizontal walls and double walls on Sandbox. I'll place them perfectly flush with the grid/floor and whatever's being interlocked (it happens regardless of interlocking or no interlocking) but when I save and quit and return to the map, they're all crooked to one side or the other. It happens no matter what altitude they're at, btw. The map I'm making is budgeted in hopes of getting it thrown into the matchmaking playlist, so the most efficient items I want to use are naturally double walls and walls for ceilings and floors. Using other items is wasting my budget and taking away from my map's aesthetic and structural quality. I'm no video-game techie, and thus I am left with only questions. -Why does this happen to me? -Can I fix it? -What course of action should I take? -How will I ever make the most epic map evar? Maybe some wisdom from the fathomless depths of FH can help me out.
Yeah, when I first got the maps I was pretty "D:" when I saw it. At the moment, it seems walls move upwards 2 degrees no matter what you do, hopefully people will figure out a fix. Until then, I recommend you don't use walls for floors, as it will cause annoying bumps.
yeah im not sure why it happens. but you can sort of fix it, but it takes time. you have to see which way the walls will be crooked, and arrange them so the crookedness lines up. they will still be crooked, but the crookedness will be smooth, with minimal bumps. if that makes sense to you with my explanation, try it.
I personally have tried multiple things to prevent/fix this, but none of them have worked. So the following will not help you: placing teleporters onto the edges of walls being used as floors placing anything to do the above, really saving walls at a slight angle interlocking walls together Things that I want to but have not yet tried: place and then save/quit walls repeatedly hack sandbox and fix the hell out of the glitch *sarcasm* set up (a) guide(s), then overload the map before save/quitting the wall in place
I would suggest when you forge(if you don't already) go into a local game. When on live, even when not with anyone else, the game can lag and mess up.
So it's not only me that gets this, thank God. And I have tried forging locally, but it still occurs.
Nope, it's not just you! Yay! So your not crazy after all! But yes, this is a very stupid glitch that should never exist. I think it would be very helpful if Bungie would tell us why this happens, and why they haven't fixed it yet. But I doubt this will ever happen.. Like most of the other people said, just don't use walls as floors, and everything will be cool!
