Hey all. Well, I know this has been done before, but it doesn't look like anyone's posted a map up *looks behind shoulder*. IKL Dead Man and I thought we were the first to do it, but we aren't sure. So don't go pointing fingers. All that aside, we've made a map where you can freely move about the outer boundaries of Sandbox with no worries. The map is clean and clear of clutter, and ready to be forged on. It also comes with a nice little description =). The outside of Sandbox can be used for a number of things, but the most interesting one that came to our minds was night maps. For the first time, you can have a completley darkened area, totally open to do what you will with. The center of the map is still lit, but the outer edges are quite dark when Gloomy is on. Anyways, how you guys forge it isn't up to me. Here are a few example screenshots: Download Sand-Blasted They're on vacation. Almost at the invisible walls. Those dunes are HUGE. The map really does get pitch black with the Gloomy filter on. Ok, well, thats it! Thanks much to IKL Dead Man. Without his help, we wouldn't have figured this out. Hope you all enjoy. Question: How did you do this? Answer: We overloaded the map with trip mines, then placed teleporters outside of the map around each tower, and save/quit Y-Intersection Tubes on the tower's guns. We had one tower that was quite the *****, and we had to use extra resources on, because it wouldn't let us get close enough to put it directly on the gun. It was a pain in the proverbial ass. Real pretty. Have you done some crazy crap to lag out the map, or have you blocked the lasers with scenery, or something else? I must know!
WOW, night maps. those Resident Evil maps that people used to make on sandbox are going to get taken to a whole new level. I wish I had sandbox. I am eager to get out and forge on these dunes. I guess i will have to wait
Definitely downloading this, but how did you manage to turn the towers off? Now thinking of thousands of map ideas with your help. You are genuinely a credit to this site, keep it up.
Towers will turn off if you overload the map, I've heard. Then just place scenery in front of the towers, and voila.
this will help alot for my newest map, Brute Attack. How did you do this? Nonetheless this is very helpfull
Can you make another one with all of the default objects on it? It's neat that you've blocked off the towers, but the hit against the OLN, I'd like to see another blocked off canvas with all of the objects. Good job!
The dark effect with gloomy on is really awesome. I'd love to see a game where 3 humans get in warthog and that's basically the only light from the hog, and they have to plow over zombies that are a bit slow but have BRs or something. And both teams have no shields =0
We probably will soon, and leave both options available. I'll ask the author of the current canvas if he'd be ok with us blocking off the towers on his canvas map. The reason we cleaned it is because it gives you more variety to work with. The maps resources don't contribute to the OLN, but they do take up budget. And if you don't use hardly any objects that the map already has, you're cutting yourself WAY down on the budget.

yes you were dude. Also if your looking for really dark stuff. try gloomy and pen and ink! if you want it to be dark but like a little visibility, try juciy and gloomy. I found this all out while screwing around last night on my new L4D halo map!
Add Old Timey to that and it's pretty much completley dark, and even the lights don't give you much to work with! I can see some crazy night maps coming from this. I'm already formulating plans for the next version of Nightfall. No pun intended.
