It would be nice to know if this can be fixed. I am currently on my fourth xbox while my brother is on his second. Out of six total Xbox's over time three of them have gotten the "Ring of Death".

The only thing I am curious about though is there really is not much proven proof of Microsoft handling and fixing the problem. I am just glad to hear news like this being brought up upon.

The RRoD will not be fixed for the ones already made crappy but maybe it can be fixed for the new ones...though people will still be complaining about it etc because they all have the older xbox's that get them...shame though wish they would of found a solid solve for this earlier...as I had RRoD around May and I know how much it sucks.

Maybe it means the next time you send it out will be the last?

It's partly because they make xboxes badly. Sony don't have this problem because they made PS3s well. Sorry, but that is the truth.
Anyway, most faults are caused by the GPU overheating and coming unstuck from the motherboard. This is because the DVD drive was too big for the inside of the xbox, so they had to make room. They made room by using a smaller heatsink. The smaller heatsink doesn't work as well, so the RRoD occurs.

If you get another red ring and it's E-74, just open up your xbox and re-glue the GPU. Guide videos on YouTube.

I'm still on my first xbox after a year and a half.

Yeah, so they fixed it...3 years later, but the next time your 360 is broken and you get a new one you probably won't get the rrod again.

Ahem no...The reason so many x boxes are bad is because they were rushed to get it out...Microsoft wanted them out on a certain date and they just couldn't get enough testing and time to work out all the little problems...hence why so many suck as they were first shipped...they have gotten a lot better so basically if you got one of the first batches of x boxes they have more of a chance of getting RRoD.

Yes, that's the problem with the Core versions, but the problem prevails with the newer ones, mainly in this form of the E-74 problem.
