Working on a new (interesting) project

    The map is still in the process of being built. Attention to detail is important and things are being created to fit gameplay and aesthetics. The first version will be finished in about a week or two and we will need testers. I have a feeling that we will come to this thread to get help considering that you are all relatively up to date with what is going on.

    Let me know if I can help test, I've followed this thread from the beginning. I'm very interesting in playing on the map I've heard so much about. I'm assuming we will be playing a beta version of the map? In which case I will give any and all advice I can think off.

    Ok guys, I'm not sick anymore, but the three days I was stuck in bed I hardly got any forging done. This weekend I'll be working on the porject more and I'll try to get RivalMass to forge with me (last time he couldn't connect for some reason...). I'll try to get some pictures up when I can, but I gotta finish things up first.

    I got a question for you guy though. Do you want me to make a demo map that I can realease by Monday? (When I say demo, I mean that it only uses the first floor, nothing related to the second floor including the things outside in the zombie field.)

    I'd like the demo. I can't test it with you, but I would still like to see the map. I might be able to run through it with some friends at least, but unlikely.

    I personally think that we should run the map with both floors. Just having one level restricts the map and strips it of the original feeling.

    The first floor is practically finished and the second floor does not require as much work. The top has the sniper spawn box and a couple windows but this is not as tricky as the first floor. We merely need to add in a level floor and then add walls. Even without a roof it is still functional and the aesthetics can be added later. The outside of the map should be relatively easy to make and the main thing to focus on is getting an effective spawn layout.

    The Humans will probably spawn with pistols and have 100% damage. They should have no shields but 150% damage resistance and slow health recharge. This way the zombies (wielding plasma pistols) will not be able to overcharge shots to take out shields. They will have to punch the humans, and tweaks will have to be made so that it takes three or four hits.

    To simulate the levels, I think that the we should use a sytem similar to the one below

    initial zombie traits
    75% speed, have 100% damage resistance, and 75% damage.

    [We could have the alpha zombie be weak to recreate the easy beggining, when the players become normal, they take on a slightly more powerful form. ]

    Respawn traits
    100% speed, 110% damage resistance, 75% damage.

    Custom Powerup
    150% speed, 150% damage resistance, 75% damage. (10m radar)

    OverShield
    -does not spawn till later in the game, respawn time should be long

    Personally I would prefer a demo map but whether there is or not I don't care, especially if I am testing the final one.

    Just wanted to bump the topic but are you guys (people working on this map) getting the new maps soon? Will that any chance slow down this map's progress?

    They are close to finished, and are making small tweaks.

    There was talk of a "beta" map that they would release for us to test, but I don't know what happened to it.

    A beta map would be a smart idea cause one of my maps tested great then got kinda popular and next thing I knew people were finding ways to get unfair advantages.

    I think they were going to do a beta map anyway, do you mean demo map? If so then it would only be the first floor, to give us a taster ;)

    I've got some bad news. The map release WILL BE DELAYED because all of this week I have to work on a project for English. The following week I would be free, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm moving to a new house and internet probably won't be up and running for the first week there...

    So yeah, sorry to dissapoint, but this project is at a current stand-still.

    Wow, just spent like 45 minutes reading all of that..ha. But on a serious note, this map could possibly if completed, be one of the top hits of infection(mainly because most people know about COD5's **** Zombies) but also because it expresses a basic zombie, terror map where players must defend a house from onoming zombie hordes. There have been a few maps where you know, you defend a chapel, or a certain area, but what makes this different is that humans actually might have to work together to last as long as they can in what seems to be a pretty large/medium sized map, and that I think is what could make this map stand out from all the other infection maps.

    Some little jotted notes:

    1. The roof- I suggest highly that you put a roof on the map and create the map with as much detail and precision you can(basically try to remake the **** Zombie map exactly as is it in COD5, (there maybe things that must be excluded of course due to gameplay and how the actual game works..so not everything might make it.)) because most people download maps just on how they look, and giving this map the COD5 **** Zombie feel would encourage more downloads and people spreading the word of COD5 **** Zombies on Halo. Having the sense you are playing **** Zombies in Halo will make players want to continue to play this with there friends. So hopfully I got the point across, and you should most definatly put a roof on the map.

    2. I agree with the Fuel Rod gun as being the Ray Gun...mainly because of the effects that it duplicates from the Ray gun...people would feel like they had a much more powerful gun in there hands as well(instead of the puny little plasma pistol). The explosion is a little pushing it, but HEY its **** Zombies, so what ever. more dead zombies the better.

    3. Is there anyway of implementing things like insta-kill power-ups, double points, ect. to add a better sense of **** Zombies.
    Maybe place power ups only excessable to humans 2-5 mins into the game? could add more playing time for humans who have worked together to reach this point in the game.(a reward for their hard work..ha.)

    4. The weapon ideas seem to be in order according to what both of you have said(GladiateSmiths, and Debayter).

    Here is my list-

    (RWB = Random Weapon Box, POW = Placed on Wall)

    colt .45 --- magnum :punch:
    thompson machine gun/mp40 --- SMG :punch:
    BAR --- Assualt Rifle (RWB)
    Browning/MG 42 --- Human Turret (Placed in the map somewhere..preferably in the HelpRoom)
    KAR --- Beam Rifle (RWB)
    Ray Gun --- Fuel Rod gun (RWB)
    Trench Gun --- Mauler :punch:
    Double Barreled Shotgun --- Shotgun :punch:
    Flame Thrower/Molotov --- Flame Thrower, and flame grenades (RWB)
    Sniper --- Human Sniper (RWB)
    STG 44 --- Battle Rifle (RWB)
    Any others not listed my bad...

    Note: I think it would be cool if you mounted basic weapons such as(thompson/mp40, colt .45..for ammo.., double barreled shotgun) on the wall inside the help room, each weapon with a certain respawn depending on the effectiveness of the weapon.

    5. Zombie weapon = Sword. Mainly because the plasma pistol would be abused and would look stupid(no offense). Although, you should put a damage penalty on zombies where it takes 2 hits instead of one to kill like GladiateSmiths said in his post.


    I think that is all I've got to say....I truly believe this maybe the next big infection game in done right. We just need the right people working on it who have the best of forging abilities and ideas for the game. I really look forward to seeing this on Forgehub featured maps!

    According to what has been posted here are the things that have been completed...correct me if I'm wrong.

    The dark tunnel with breakable cover.
    The random weapon box/thing improvised into a small area(single box size).
    The Help Room.
    The windows, allowing zombies to get through but keep humans in and being able to shoot through them.
    Most of the rest of the first floor.
    The curved stair case and straight stair case.

    Now working on the doors/ways to get up the stairs and into the Help Room.

    Have you done any roofing over the first floor to prepare for the second floor, or are you just waiting until the first floor is totally complete?

    I started the roofing, but it's only about 4 double walls big at the moment. And it's going to stay that way for a while (unless of course I do some late night forging).

    Unfortunately I think this map is being entered in a competition where you can have up to 2 people forging it.

    i never played **** zombies cuz i dont have cod but this looks awsome!
