EDIT: Thanks to Crushric for giving me the elephant idea, I am proud to tell you that it is possible to geomerge an elephant. But it is not stable, it will move around, but it is still fun to watch and to me is definitely something new. Btw, this thread used to be in the forge map section, so the format of my words and pictures looks like its advertising a map. I can change it if people need me to, to make the thread easier to understand and to get the point across faster. Download Pre-DLC Geo EDIT: I have updated the map, I thought it was worth it since it only has 1 download anyways. Now with objects already in place for you to geomerge the elephant yourself. Both within 5 seconds of each other showing exactly how much this thing can move around. The best shot I manged to get of the elephant being unstable/geomerged, I think it lasted about 5 or so seconds before it popped out onto solid ground. A little thing, I found out. You can still flip an elephant even if its in the ground and you're really far away from it. Eventually it popped out, but even then it was still a bit geomerged. (WAIT, correct me if I'm wrong, maybe sand is allowed to cover up the treads.) END OF NEW THINGS Old Map Description: This may be old, I don't know, but I just wanted to show you guys this. I had discovered this quite a while back, around April. But when I was browsing through Forgehub, I forgot whether it was the forge discussion or the customer service, but I remember there was a question about if geomerging was possible on Pre-DLC, and the majority of the answers, was no. So now I just wanna show this to possibly spark ideas into people's minds or to just show that Pre-DLC isn't un-forgeable. Disclaimer: On the geomerged crate I had learned how to geo-merge in this thread. I wanted to see if it was possible to geo-merge something less "stable" or big as a container on Last Resort. A geomerged box, contained with teleporters. A geomerged barrier, a small section geomerged, but still something. The back side of the geomerged barrier. As you can see the teleporters, I used them for keeping hold of the barrier incase it started moving. Random uses of the geo-merged objects. Spoiler A cool way of using the barrier as cover. I consider this a cooler way of some mini cover, although you could use the foundry type of barrier on its side, but sandtrap doesn't have that type of barrier. Note: I am actually crouched. Just showing that these objects are stable.
This is very nice. I love how you position the boxes and put them so neatly. As much as I admire your forge a little bit, shouldn't this be in the Forge Discussion section? It can be here, but I believe it works best there because I predict that people will just download, check the map for about a minute, and just delete it. Nice job anyways.
thats amazing. never thought you could geomerge non movable objects on old maps. its very neat and im gonna download and check it out
impressive I am impressed, now all that is left to do with these is use them in a real map. wait, perhaps you can do the same with the elephant...hmmmmm
Crushric, I am here to tell you, that your little idea has given me much inspiration to try it out, and it has successfully worked.
Looks cool but...is the elephant actually stable enough to use in an actual map? Or is it just for the TA-DAH factor, like flipping it is?
(No offense but if you read,) the elephant is actually not stable at all. It will move around a lot, but most of the time it will be "geomerged/underground". btw, this thread used to be in the forge map section, so the format of my words and pictures is somewhat more detailed and pretty long. I can change it if people need me to, to make the thread easier to understand and to get the point across faster.
yea i was just wondering if you could geo-merge into pre-dlc maps and people said no and this proves them wrong, also vary nice on finding this
Very nice finds. On the barrier geo-merge, is it possible to put two side-by-side and make it like a bunker? That would be awesome.
I actually found this awhile ago. I posted a thread but it wasn't using this creative barrier merge. mostly containers.
Does this work better on flat ground? Nice find, especially with the Elephant. Can you sink the elephant below the map entirely? What happens if you drive it whilst it is merged?
Yes, I know you have found the glitch of geomerging on Pre-DLC before me, I have given you credit in the post (even before you posted here). And thanks for the comment about the barrier merge. Actually, I haven't tried it on any place else besides whats shown. So I don't know. Don't know either, my original intention was to just see if it was possible to geomerge it. You can drive the elephant, but you don't have control at all, or at least too little to be shown. Since the elephant isn't stable, it'll just continue moving around when you're "driving" it.
There's probably an effective way of stabilizing the elephant, but it will be a hassle to find it. No doubt the problem is that it has more area to move around in once it's actually in the ground, rather than just exerting force upwards like most objects do. I assume this technique is simply done with a interlock-geomerge method? The only problem with this I have is that it would be heavily resource dependent as you'd need teleporters for the guides as well.
