Pong Become the master of the arcade classic. Map Variant Game Variant (Versus) Game Variant (4-Ball) Overview This map is really two maps in one; a map for the classic back and forth pong and a new one I've devised called 4-Ball. Each mode involves knocking soccerballs accross a shield door filled area using grav hammers all in the effort to prevent the ball from passing you and going into your goal. This uses a scoring system that will be described in detail later on. Classic Versus Mode In this version there will be a jump ball at start; this is where the ball is floating out in the center and you must jump and swing to knock it back. This is a risk but can also benefit you if done well giving you the first hit of the game (this is also a strategy that can be used throughout play). Continue knocking the ball back and forth until one team knocks the ball past the other, upon which the scoring team will be able to grab their bomb and precede into there OWN GOAL to score. (NOTE: If you attempt to score the bomb before knocking the ball past the other team the teleporters will not be blocked and you will be sent back to the lower area of the map) Jump Ball Ball Breaking Turret in Goal Bomb and Arming Point Bottom of Map (Teleporter Area) The Scoring System The scoring system is rather basic, but effective. When the ball goes into a goal it rams a machine gun turret/plasma cannon which breaks it. The turret is set to never respawn and the items run time minimum is set to 1 so that there has to be one on the map. This forces the unspawned turret on the teleporter reciever in the teleporter drop zone to spawn thus blocking the teleporter allowing one to pass. Teleporter Drop Zone Unblocked Teleporter Drop Zone Blocked 4-Ball Mode In this mode one team is defending against four balls that spawn in the map as time progresses. The attacking team is in a closed slot on the opposite side of the map where they are able to knock balls back using either their grav hammers, turrets, or a brute shot that spawns in after a certain amount of time. The scoring system is almost identical to the one in versus mode; except for the attacker's side kills you rather than sending you down to the lower part of the map (for obvious reasons). Ball Spawn Times 1 - At Start 2 - 10 sec 3 - 30 sec 4 - 60 sec (NOTE: Brute Shot spawns at 90 sec) Attackers Slot (Brute Shot Spawn) (NOTE: Custom Power Up spawns on brute shot which allows one to grab it) Ball and Arming Point for Attackers One Ball Two Balls Three Balls Four Balls Death Teleporter For Attacker Side Lower Area of Map on 4-Ball (NOTE: There is a ramp on attacker side in case one gets launched across by a teamate rather than there being the teleporters for attackers) Side Notes Player Traits Invunerable, Infinite Ammo, 200% Gravity, 100% Speed Versus Game Settings 3 Minute Round Duration, 10 Rounds, 1 Point to Win Round 4-Ball Game Settings 2 Minute Round Duration, 10 Rounds, 1 Point to Win Round
First impression I got=Pong. Very original and you did i nice job imitating the very classic game. And its even got a score system, anti-cheat system, and variations... well done. You've got a DL from me.
wow, being able to put a working scoring system in there as well as a cheating syestem while still being able to make it fun and intersesting, DL and 5/5 for awesomness and originality
This is a really fun map, I'll definitely have to try out the new 4 ball version. My one complaint with this map is the scoring system, to me it seems overly complicated. Even though it doesn't technically matter, there is a much easier way to do this. Instead of using assault, why not just place a teleporter behind the first line of teleporters that takes you to an instant capture territory outside the map? While I understand it only takes an additional few seconds to pick up the ball, it can get a little confusing for first timers. It would make more sense to at least place the bomb next to the plant point so there aren't people who go in there without the bomb and get stuck. Other than that the gameplay works great and it's definately one of the best 1vs1 mini games I've played.
This game rullllesssss. No. Seriously, this is an awesome mini-game. I loved playing it with you, and im sure everyone else would too. I also like the new pong you added, im glad that you actually posted it too.
There have been these kind of objective games in the past, but I am pretty sure that there hasn't been a ping pong game. I think this was a very nice original idea. I havn't downloaded this yet but it seems like it is very hard to score on this game. I have no idea but are there grav lifts that push it in? Anyway very nice job on the layout of the game and the interlocking looks nice as well. Nice job
While I have considered this there are problems with your suggestions. First off not enough teleporters to do the territory thing. Secondly, I can't move the ball to the back of the goal because the innoperable turret can prevent you from picking it up. Although I could utilize this in 4-ball... BUT 4-Ball has no man cannons on attacker side so one could never get stuck. None the less thanks for the post. Sarge525 P.S. - To the above post: There are man cannons that push the soccerballs in when they reach the goal.
YEAH, THER ARE [sorry caps] man cannons that pull the soccer ball into the turret and usually it breaks it, occasionally the ball gets stuck there without the turret breaking, in which you just wait for the ball to respawn. great game will be on my HD 4evar 5/5
This map is great. I loved play testing this, and seeing all the different versions of this map. I can't wait to see it up on Bungie Favs dude you deserved it.
the map looks very well forged and the idea is very cool. pong is sweet and you did a nice job incorporating that into halo. very nice map.
The 4-Ball game variant is where one team defends there goal against 4 soccerballs, so imagine pong with 4 balls but there is a wall on one side. Kind of like playing racquet/wall ball.
Eh I played both of the game variants one 1v1 and they got kind of annoying. To get the game started, somebody had to jump to the middle to hit the soccer ball and start the game. Also th ball would sometimes get stuck hopping up and down endlessly in the middle and someone would have to jump to the middle to get it. In 4-ball, I didn't like the wall preventing the people from moving. It got really restricting and if there was any way to have 4-ball with out that wall it might have been better. While the scoring system was clever, it was tedious but I guess there's not much you could do about that. Props on figuring out a scoring system but I didn't keep this on my hard drive.
This was a very fun map sarge i havent played 4 ball yet but it was really fun playing versus. i love when we play 2 vs 2 that was really fun. *still cant believe i lost to u =( Sad face
Well... where to begin...? I know you are one lazy person. If having to move your thumb in a millimeter to depress the A button (or RB) and then pull the trigger every once and awhile is a complaint you truly must be mentally handicapped... Honestly, this is by far the strangest complaint I've ever gotten on any post, ever. And 4-Ball is designed to constrain one team, and, based on your complaint of not likeing jumping at the ball, you are contradicting yourself. Oh I don't like being stuck on the platform and I also don't like jumping off of it... I mean thats utterly ridiculous. This is meant in the most sincere manner and in no way meant to ridicule you, but that is just "insert deaming word/phrase here"... PS Learn to spell check...
Low and behold, another masterpiece from one of my favorite forgers. I have always liked your maps, but this one is truly my favorite thus far. The gameplay is down right addictive, I have only had this for a week now and I have played more games than I can count. Great for the average party size, and once everyone understands what to do, it is amazing. 4-Ball is a great addition that adds a slit pinball-esque style of play. But it is completely unique in and of itself. This will be on my hard drive for the infinite future. Kudos. Shibbylib
