My friends have been sending me messages telling me to go to a website and I'll get microsoft points for signing up. Since it is my good friend I wouldn't think he would lie. Today I received a message from a mutual friend of ours telling me the same thing. Later I caught up with my friend using his old account (He joined a clan and didn't want to pay for a name change.) He said he was hacked and not to go there.

The site is [removed to protect idiots] Not suspicious at all, huh. The site looks just like Xbox.com sign-in and is supposedly sponsored by Gears of War 2. To all members this site equals hax and lock out of your account. My friend called Xbox and there locking out his account for a week so the hackers can't use it. Just a little heads up for everybody. BEWARE your friends. Neive as I am I went there and signed-up for it. I haven't been hacked yet and when I heard about this a changed my Windows Live ID so I think I'll be fine.

How is that even constitute 'being hacked'? That's end user incompetence, PEBKAC.

Almost nothing is without a price... you get free microsoft points, but your account is compromised.

You shouldn't give away your account information to anyone but microsoft, and if you know its an entity seperate of microsoft, or you are unsure, it would be wise to not give them your XBL information. Gimmicks like this are everywhere. You just have to choose to not buy into them.

Never, ever, ever ever ever ever EVER go to any site sent to you in a xbox live message that offers you free stuff.

It is NOT real. No matter how much you trust this person, because they aren't actually them.

No. not hacking. its not hard work on their part. they didn't break into your account. they decided to be clever and have you hand over your account willingly. That is not hacking. That is con artistry.

I would say "same thing" but this has gone on long enough. The only reason I posted this was to protect Noobz like myself.

    Its a scam...not a hax

    ...Definition of Scam

    1. (noun) scam, cozenage
    a fraudulent business scheme

Since this is somewhat of a business taking peoples information and using it to gain access to their accounts.

Anyways I hate noobs like these that make these dumb things for the people who actually believe it.

When dealing with "FREE" offers like this one, I always think to myself, "What's in it for them?" No one will EVER give you anything for free over the internet. There is always a price, and that price may be your XboxLive profile. Be smart.

If the message isn't a voice message then it is a lie. There is NOWHERE where you can get MS points for free. Nowhere. Once you enter your account details, they'll scan your account for a credit card number. If you buy your points by card, you're safe. But then they use your account to send the same message to everyone on your friends list.

Really? Audio immediately decides if someone is legitimate or not? Microsoft Points are sold for retail. Maliciously dealing them is illegal. Hence, signing up on that site while being aware of said deal, you too are committing a crime, while it may not look like he average one we are accustomed to. As for them scanning your account for a credit card, they don't 'scan', these are real people. Tk is a free website hosting utility, anyone can make a website with it. This person obviously made one to fool retards, and obviously it worked. Sorry to say this, but regardless you have a credit card on the account the 'scammer' is most willingly going to take your account. Whilst changing your live ID is the intelligent thing you did, I recommend you go over your recovery questions just in case.

Wondering how I have so much experience? Well, my friend does the same exact thing. Actually, I believe that is even his website. He has multiple ones, tricking people into hacking themselves. While I don't support it, hes still my good friend. I might get mixed comments upon peopling hearing this, but it is true.

Ultimately, never reveal your credentials on a site that isn't Microsoft registered. I'd say just stick your ID to xbox.com, and Bungie..net.

I think everyone has made their point about how fake this is.

    Don't be gullible.
