I don't know if anyone has made a thread like this before, but I was just curious. So, yeah, I just think Matchmaking is very bland and dull. I personally think Bungie should add new Matchmaking playlists and hoppers instead of the same holiday ones and the VERY repetitive Living Dead. Like maybe some weird user-created content Playlist with custom maps and gametypes (that are compatible, of course). I for one would love a Ranked Multi-Team. That would be AWESOME!!!
And still, out of curiosity, I just want to hear your opinions about this or any news you may have heard of something like this, and also whatever your fantasy Playlist would be.
    So, yeah. Later. :)

Adding more playlists to MM only buffs the ones with massive amounts of people in them, and screws the ones without.

I like the way Matchmaking is now minus the fact there is no Rocket Race. Even though the playlist is small it had such a devoted following, more so than MLG in some regards.

i agree with you completely in regards to rocket race, but when you look back at it, it definitely is a 2xp weekend gametype, not a playlist all its own. I would like to see an infection playlist to shake things up. I agree with a social user created content thing as well, that would be cool. maybe have bungie favorites maps used? idk just a thought. also i think it would be cool to have ranked grifball, or an official playlist for it. grifball is just overdone every month with 2xp weekends. i mean its fun but i don't like it that much, i would prefer if bungie filled grifballs slot with something different for once. and fiesta as well, that gametype has very little skill associated with it. its basically if you spawn with power weapons or not, with rockets dominating following usually by laser/sniper or shotgun.

I would love a playlist that is filled with the Best of Forge winners here. That would be amazing.

You have to understand though that most maps made are not matchmaking worthy. In order to have a map in it's playlist of it's own it will have to be stripped down to it's core essence. Most user-created content revolves around a certain style of play while most matchmaking conesuiers are not familiar with this. Take infection for example. User-created maps compared with the ones from the Living-Dead playlist are vastly different. Those in the Living Dead playlist are watered down generic maps. That's not a bad thing, in fact it's necesary for Matchmaking. You have imagine if your friend, who's only played Halo a few times before, came over. Is he going to enjoy an infection map that's easy to understand more so than one that's highly technical. I, on the other hand, will not enjoy the simplistic renditon of 28 Days Later, I want the technical aspect of it, because I've played so many infection games I need that extra edge to keep it enjoyable.

Again, you have to understand that most Halo 3 Players are used to a different style of play. While forgers try not to, their maps will ultimately promote their 'perfect' style of play.

True but at least some good would come from the winners.

That is why there would be someone monitoring what maps get put into the rotation.

This is where Shishka comes in and Atlas as well.

Yes. And even the community would be able to get involved in something like this. This maps could be updated like every month with the maps that Shishka and others have chosen to be the best fit. Whether it be the same maps or some new ones or a combination of both. The community would come in then, to vote on maps for each month. Say maybe the top 20 highest voted maps are sent to Shishka and then he choses which of them will get put into the rotation for the month. The next month the votes would reset.

(That is just something that came into my head. Poorly worded but felt like typing what I would envision if something like this were to happen.)

Matchmaking how it is now is fine in my opinion. With double xp every week is nice too. I wouldnt change anything bout it. As Tex said before, it would reduceount of people that play popular playlists and screw up the "not-so-popular" playlists

In essence you're describing what Shishka is doing with Atlas.

I see some flaws with your plan though. Will the maps have to play for one certain gametype or will the cover a broad range of gametypes. If the latter is the case, I doubt a TGIF playlist will ever be en-acted.

Second, I would never want community control with regards to matchmaking. That isn't wise, because the votes would ultimately be controlled by those from forging circles who have their own choice in playstyle. The majority of people who play matchmaking probably don't even have b.net accounts and their voice would be silence.

Overall, its just a bad idea.

That would be a reason for them to go on B.net which in turn would be a good thing for B.net to begin with. I think it would be fine if something was put into place like this. (Obviously not exactly the same). People that forge all of the time don't usually play matchmaking as much because they are forging so I think it would even out. The people that play MM most would probably be the people that voted every month.
