FORGEHUB BEST MLG MAP Hey I am currently starting a new Best MLG Map Competition.Me as well as two other people (still looking for two people to help me judge) will be judging the competition.The competition will be on MLG based map variants.We will be judging over things like: *Gameplay *Aesthetics *How unique the map is *Movement of the map (how well can you move around on the map) *Weapon Placement (if any) And much more.The other two judges and I will judge fairly no matter what styler of MLG map variant it is.The winner of the competition will receive either the code for a one month or a three month of xbox live.Most likely a three month.If you want to have your map entered into the competition, then just post a comment on this thread with the link to it on this site or bungie,I do not want links to any other sites rather than those two.After you send me the link I will edit the thread and post all maps on this thread so that everybody will be able to see the maps that are entered in the competition.Please do not spam this thread or it will be deleted. I am putting a theme into this competition as of now which is going to be kind of simple. The map has to be on Foundry It is going to have to be MLG based map variant. I will be taking map entries up until 4/1/09 So everybody can have time to finsih their maps and get them entered for the competition.I will be posting the winner on Bungie.net so that everybody will know what the best map on FORGEHUB is. I know everyone is posting comments about how their is already one of these,but who cares.what is another one going to hurt anybody.It is just going to be really fun and the winner gets a prize so it will be fun for everybody. Well I suppose I'll enter my map that I'm building now, should be done before sandbox comes out. Really though, you should have a few things to make a successful contest. First of all you're gonna want a theme, this ensures that maps are actually built for your contest rather than people like me just submitting maps because they happen to have one ready. It also promotes creativity because if the focus of your contest is on an under-represented map type, people who have never made one before can join in. Secondly, a deadline both for date it needs to be submitted by and as a restriction on maps that were uploaded from months before your competition launched. This keeps things organized, and as the submission deadline approaches buzz can build about people's maps creating excitement.
Well the theme is really simple,it just has to be on the three maps listed above.And i am going to stop taking entries on 3/1/09.So i hope to see your map entered in it and I hope to see you telling everybody else about this competition so it can get pretty big.
so basically youre saying that you and your 3 buddies are better judges of a map than the entire community voting in the Best of Forge? You do realize there's a Best Map category, right? This is incredibly redundant.
Maybe a bit more time would be helpful. And also, any specific rules woudl help ALOT. You have no rules at all, and its not much of a competition since this is happening right now, for best of forge. MAke something unique, to make us all want to participate.
Please do not lock this thread mods. Although it may seem pointless I believe that with a little thought and insight this contest could be a success. Firstly, you need to give people more time to make their map. Secondly, best map contest is a dumb remake of BOF and needs to stand out a little more. Try to change it to like a battle tracks competition, or playable aesthetics competition. You know, mix it up a little bit. Your post is sub standard for this type of contest. If the mods decide not to lock this I would be happy to right up a post in contest format for you. As of now don't lock this thread, give him a chance to re-think things. I have seen people jump on this guy several times when he has done hardly anything wrong.

Never try to copy something "big". There is no point in creating a forge site because it will probably not get as big as ForgeHub. There is no point in this because it will not get as big as BoF.
WOW what is wrong with the people on this d*** site.I just want to do this for fun and just try and do something good for the site.Whats the problem with me doing this.I got permission from a moderator to do this so their is nothing you guys can do about it.It has nothing to do with you people that think you know everything.I am giving away a three month so its pretty good.i am not copying BOF and i do not plan on it being as big as BOF but I do want to do this so just stop posting this stuff on my thread or i will report you.
Report us for what? This is a pointless idea because of how the first post is made, but if you actually make a long thorough post, with no super colors in it, and not in super big font people may take more notice to this. Best of Forge is great and all, but alot of maps are instantly thrown down once a better map is voted for. Its basically what map has been seen the most, which I do not like. You can't really report us for something we didn't even do. Nobody did anything wrong and your just getting mad because nobody likes your idea.:embarassed:
That might be how it is in other competitions,but i am not running kt like,i am playing ech and every map and voting for the best
First of all: Okay, we're jerks... i can admit that... but we've seen too much of these sort of things that we just don't want to be polite anymore. There are current issues with spam threads and this is really not a good time for this type of thing. Second of all: If the map has to be on Foundry and has to be MLG, then it isn't the best on Forgehub. There are plenty of good maps that aren't on Foundry and don't follow MLG rules. I advise that you do not post the winner on bungie saying they have the best on Forgehub. That would be a very false statement. I think you should reword your competition title and maybe add a few twists to the competition itself. I don't know how exactly you would do that, because there already is a best of forge competition. This competition goes on twice a year, it is very popular, and has pretty much any and every category. I don't think it's wise for you to be spending money on something that is worthless.
If you are going to go through with this competition and you're going to be judging MLG maps, then you need to remove the aesthetics catagory completely.
exactly, and who is one person to judge which maps are the best of forgehub, compared to the hundreds that vote in the actual Best of Forgehub competition????

If you want people from Forgehub to take part, maybe you should refrain from telling Forgehub members to forget it, and to shut up. And you posted it on here, and we would be the ones competeing, so yes it is our buisness. On the non-angry side, you can't really judge all different kinds of maps to see which one is the best. Look at Best Of Forge, it has a lot of different catagorize for that specific reason.
