Well, none of us know exactly what it is. But the signs point to an underground area. Even if we are wrong, I won't be disappointed. Sandbox is already awesome the way it has been revealed so far. I already posted that quote, plus the link like 4 pages ago.
The Edge acceptance video is not the video in question here, that is the sky bubble without a doubt. However the G-Phoria video definitely looks underground. Also by looking at that I think the underground part may be octagon shaped, making circular and arena maps much, much, much easier.
good point, i didnt even see that, thx. that pic woud make for an intereting gametype, make a racetrack with a goal point over that section and see who survives.
If it as a circle, I'm guessing it would be the same size as Midship. Then I would splurge as someone tried to figure out how to make the middle platform. I also believe that if there is a Cavern that we can forge in, then we are going to get 3 separate default variants. One for Sandbox, one for Skybubble and one for the Cavern. And then all Sandbox map variants for Bungie Faves that week, as well as some Mythic videos and pictures for us.

Yup, I think we have found enough evidence to say that there is an underground section to sandbox. In the picture with barriers surrounding it it is definitely a hole. Why didn't we figure this out earlier. And how did that guy get to the download link. I can't wait for the next weekly update.
storage for items perhaps? if you go through a teleporter, you can carry whatever youre holding through with you, it spaws along aswell. i can see this. but that little black box does seem a little suspicious. if you look at default sandbox, it looks as if there are four tunnels leading to the middle, teleporter to the skybox maybe? if you fall in, then you can go to another portion of the map in the skybox, but this would be difficult to balance.....
Well seeing how Urk or Shishka have yet to poop our theory party, even during their prime time for posting on this thread, I say we have made a successful find.
How am i mistaken? Ive read the "review" as well. Heretic is rumored to be midship... whether the stupid tilty thing moves or not wasnt mentioned in my post. When they put it before my eyes, and i see that it is indeed midship, thats when ill say its midship.
After seeing the plugged hole in the screen shot and the barriers surrounding it on custom maps, I think we can safely say there is at least some playable space in that hole. How big or deep it is remains to be seen. Just to throw my idea out there now: The skull is hidden under the block.
