Total # of maps submitted on FH = 9,455 Total # of featured maps on FH = 183 Percentage of submitted maps that become featured = 1.9% Total # of registered members on FH = 22,961 Total # of members involved in creating a featured map on FH = 43 Percentage of members that create featured maps = .18%
Okay then, what's the percentage of members that even submit any maps? And what's the % of Far Cry 2 map submitters?
Not all members are either active, submit maps, or even stay around (banned accounts, etc.). So the members part is sketchy...
Hmm, a smart man i see. That's quite the results you have there. I agree the members part is sketchy, but still, it goes to show, that getting featured, is a big thing.
It also shows that out 183 featured maps, only 43 people have been apart of them. Makes you wonder how many times the same person has gotten featured just because they have something else featured. Also makes you wonder how many better maps have been slighted because of this.
Truee. Like Cosmic Rick i think it is, has about 8 features now? I think this shows that if a new member joins FH and posts a really good map, it wouldn't be looked at , or consideered to be a great map, until he has a higher sense of recognition. But if Cosmic Rick were to post a good new map right now, he would get an almost automatic Feature. It makes you think..
Cosmic having a high amount of Features doesn't mean new members' maps would get overlooked at all; It just means he makes great maps, and because of this, they get featured. If you were to make an amazing map with something that no one had ever seen, I'm sure it would be considering for a feature. Just as Doognit (I think his Username is) did his Skatepark and it got featured, he was only a UNSC Graduate, so a relatively new member.
Yeah, but his right away, would get looked over for a feature, but if i were to make one, it would take a while before getting noticed. PS: and nobody get me wrong, i love Cosmic Rick's maps, they all deserve the features.
With any type of community it takes time to get noticed. It is not just with the quality of your work, but your standing with the community. Building up your reputation and a portfolio will help you be recognized by the community. Once recognized people tend to have there work looked over more. This is not a problem, because people who are featured more often have proved themselves to the community. While newer members who's work may be similar in quality to the features is not recognized, because the new member does not have a good standing with the community.
The reason for most of those statistics is because the first few pages of Features were from when we had a Guilder system, a Guilder would automatically get his map featured. That's why people like TDF, Yavi, Asper, AZN, and so on have 7+ features. Cosmic's the only guy who hasn't gotten it that way to my knowledge, which is fairly impressive.
If my calculations are correct, If I submit 106 maps, I will become premium. 371 for Architect. Cool Stats
You could submit 1000 terrible maps, and not ever get a feature. You could also submit 2 very good maps and get it. Its all about quality, not quantity.
He was being sarcastic. As for new people's maps getting slighted, well, I think that's BS personally, when a new person shows up with a great map, everyone gushes over how great it is that the new guy made it rather than someone we expect greatness out of. Now someone with a history of mediocre maps, theirs are the ones that will likely get overlooked.
Thats pretty sweet...but yeah with those statistics that means from calculations each person who has had a map featured has a total of 4.2 maps featured...but thats just by dividing 183 by 43...
You have to take into acount the original features weren't based off the maps made really, they were based off the people that made them (not that they weren't good). So alot of members have an insane amount of features just from that.
