I've always been a fan of RTS games, but not necessarily on consoles. Battle for Middle Earth 2 was a pretty fun RTS for the 360, but it still lacked something. But when I first played Halo Wars, I was astonished at how easy it was to control, yet hard to master. It's definitely one of, if not the best console RTS to date. But it still can't touch Starcraft or Age of Empires.
dammit, ive already done that gotta do it again i guess. If any of you played the campaign and got mad because it cut off on the cutscene where they need backup, the following cutscene is playing on the "Press Start" screen. This will give you a basic idea of whats gonna happen next.
This is my first time playing a rts.I have to say I like it so far.I think i like it because its Halo based.
I downloaded the demo and didn't really like it that much. It's basicallly like C&C only on the xbox and halo-based. I always thought RTS's where meant for the PC, thats exactly what I think with Halo Wars. Quick Question: can you get th Halo Wars maps by renting the game? I'm talking about Sandbox, Orbital, and Assembly.
Most likely not. I'm almost 100% sure that there will be a code in the box that you have to redeem in the Marketplace.
Let's play a logic game, shall we? Now, the Mythic map pack early thing is only for the Limited Edition. Which version of the game is the rentable one?
No you wont get the new maps, I tried to do the same thing with the Halo 3 beta from Crackdown. I rented it from blockbuster, and when I went to the extra's, or where ever you were supposed to go, and it said you need an official version of the game. So I'm guessing they'll do the same thing with this one.
Hey, is it possible to self destruct units? I was playing as the covenant and wanted to make a scarab but didn't have room. I couldn't even get the UNSC to kill some of my guys...that's how bad they were doing. Sure I could have just gone ahead and won but I really wanted to be evil =D
DLed. I'm halfway done with the second mission. I'll be playing for awhile though LOL since my xbox doesn't read games...
i just used the prophets laser to take out a couple unnecessary dudes. if you dont want halo wars, but want the maps, just wait. Dont be a douche and try and cheat someone else out of them because you're too cheap to buy the game.
Hmm, now I can't win at Heroic =/ The enemy somehow masses an army of Banshees, Guards, and Wraiths before I can even release any air units. I need to find a faster way to raise resources.
Do the tutorials first. Then do campaign to get familiar. But the tuts don't tell you about these controls. RB: Select all units on Screen RT: Cycle through all units currently selected (meaning you can select Marines to attack grunts, and Hornets to attack Wraiths for example). LT: Hold down to quickly move around. D-Pad: Might take some getting used to in your head, so at first think about which one you are pressing to quickly familiarize yourself.
Well, it depends on which side you wish to play. In general, however, you cannot do anything without supplies, so make sure you gather some. Also, make sure to scout out your enemy and see what they are up to. Use either a warthog or a ghost for this. Just click around out their, see what they are creating, see where troops are, and run back. This way you can know what you need to create yourself to counter attack a possible attack; or know what to create in order to attack their base, seeing as they don't have any counter units. You'll pick up on the various units and what they do, just read the text about them and such. I recommend starting on easy or normal so you can get an understanding of how things work with units and stuff.
