I think i am going to try and forge a giant Egyptian city with like two huge Pyramids with under ground tunnels. Sacrifice pits, Death chambers, and just a bunch of other stuff to add to it. The pit could be used with the kill balls by making a huge pit and putting the ball at the bottom. I'll try to make the pit and pyramids as big as possible. Who is getting the Legendary Edition Halo Wars? Is there going to be any specific contest to test out who adapted the best from Foundry to Sandbox and made the most amazing map on it?
I went out today to preorder LE HW. I think the remake contest is a good idea. Anyway today should be interesting when bungie update comes out.
I might remake Slate Creek on Sandtrap, the color scheme is much more accurate to the theme of the map than Foundry ever could be.
That would be incredibly hard to do, good luck on that one. And as much as I want to plan for my first Sandbox map, I really can't until I can see what I have to work with and get a feel and become aquainted with the map. Perhaps Bungie will go in more depth on our options for Forge objects tonight in the Weekly Update.
I still am on Vacation. I get home Sunday. I'm really looking foreword to reading trough the 100 pages I missed. I already got some ideas for it Zombies,Games, and a space center game
Well, Bungie laid to rest the speculation on the Kill Balls. No, you cannot change their width or height, and no you cannot put more than 2. So much for Guardian-style maps. And the blue grid is just... a blue grid. Nothing more.
"We also wanted to let you in on a little trick we learned. It turns out that all the default objects on Sandbox are automatically and irrevocably factored into the OLN. That means that if you delete them and create a blank "canvas," you won't be reclaiming those objects and you'll ultimately hit your OLN value long before you really should. So, instead of making a "canvas," you should stack all of the original objects off to the side (spawn points included, they're also factored into the calculation), away from your build site, and save them for reuse later. That way, you'll be able to make the most out out of the total number of objects you're given to work with." Lame. I have no problems with a budget, but the way this has been implemented is terrible.
Well at least they told us about it. Though this is GGGGGAAAAAYYYYYY. So we've got those items seen in the default layout, and only those in the default, plus $510 in budget. We'll still be able to build cool things for sure, but if you weren't interested in using every single object from the default layout, you're getting shorted some potential budget.
We just have to find the item limit first. Then we spawn exactly what we need for the map, and try not to delete anything once you spawn it. We should be able to work around it.
It's okay, I guess. You can just use the objects from the default layout on your map, build onto that, and just delete more original objects as you go. It may take more time, but I'm up for it.
Ok, somebody good with Halo mythology, how long is that? It might be better to buy normal edition Halo Wars and just wait if its short enough.
If you all don't mind, someone, or a group, needs to form for when Sandbox releases. They will be in charge of finding the exact item limit. It will be tedious but very valuable. I would love to take part, but my "method" of retrieving games is too nice to spend the money to buy the LE. =]
I have full faith in this community's ability to break the OLN. No, really. We've "broken" just about everything else in Forge: we can make items float, we can force things into the ground and other geometry, we can splice items together... If FH doesn't destroy Bungie's attempts of map censorship (I'm kidding, but still...) in one month, I'll be flabberfasted. I believe in you, FH! [/motivational speech]
I figured it up and it is exactly 37 days. So since it is a little longer than that, according to Bungie, I'm going to say about a month and a half.
OMG ITS LANCE!1!1!1one!!! Welcome back dude. I agree though, I think we can break it. I don't think it'll be a problem if we can't though. I mean, I know we'll want to use a lot of objects but even still, we should be able to make quite a wonderful map even with the object limit.
