rusty, mind handing me a mop so i can clean up all these little broken bits of my head all over the floor. thanks, btw. took me about 5 minutes to actually see it, but i think you may be right
It's not an underground tunnel. I think some of you have misunderstood what I said. Sandbox without all the items is perfectly flat. In Bungie's version of default sandbox, however, there is a tunnel within each base. For a more visual approach if you still misunderstand me, load a foundry canvas up. In it place three double boxes side by side and place a double wall on the middle box. After that delete the middle box. It's essentially the same thing as in the picture, but larger in the sandbox version. If you guys still don't understand I'll just forge a recreation of that base as I'm seeing it in foundry for you guys to download.
I honestly think I'm stupider for reading that... As for your footnote, that's like (as a really extreme example) saying you're going to kill someone, but you can't get in trouble for it because you know it's bad...
tunnel is the wrong word. tunnel denoted a beginning, a path, and an end. He just means each base has a hollow center, and that there is playable area underneath the green walls rusty highlighted
I'm more surprised by the no entrance at the front idea... there must be something down there other than just spawn points that's worth going in to a room that can easily be cleared out by two players...
Something like the tomb area on Sandtrap, it seems like. I sure hope that's not where the flag is :/ It's always a pain getting it out on Sandtrap...I generally prefer easy to pick up but hard to actually get back to your base.
I read through what Rusty said about 7 times then it hit me...and it was amazing. I think he deserves the picture analyzing award of the year for that. Anyway, maybe the [lack of] a front entrance is an example of the actual shadows that you've been wanting, because is there an item that would be that dark anyway?
Oh, that makes more sense. We were actually just saying basically the same thing, besides the entrance.
Not really because if you look at those back walls along the back of the red base they are also very close to the same dark hue. The sandbox ground, however, is still pretty bright. Anyways, I made a very rough mock up of the the sandbox base. Keep in mind you'll have to use your imagination to visualize all the parts. I'm not going to bother making it as accurate as possible since Sandbox will be out soon anyways. Here's the link: Bungie.net : Bungie Online : Halo 3 File Details
It seems odd them having the bases hollow like that but with no front entrance and stuff. I'm thinking there's probably a teleporter down there. Maybe something similar to the rear of the base on Relic, in Halo 2.
I noticed that little underbelly part... i really thought it was obvious... silly me I think it's just an underbelly. Remember the little underbelly part in Containment on each base? Actually wait, there were a bunch of underbellies :/... well some of the underbellies had teleporters and some didn't on that map. Oh well, that didn't work at all. And about that rocket thing a while ago: okay I sharpened the image and noticed some more things Red - Possible doorway? Blue - I think that's about eye level, so if he is jumping then that wall type thing is good for side barriers (as long as you don't grenade jump or something) Pink - the chopper size looks pretty small from there (just an observation) Green - Darkened areas? Maybe good for sneaking around ; ) White -I noticed a little extra ledge or something on top of that pyramid type thing. Idk, maybe it's just the angle.
Someone on Bungie.net posted a link with quite a few more sandbox pics and a small article. It's pretty cool, check it out. IGN: Halo 3 Screenshots, Wallpapers and Pics EDIT: Forgot to post the link to the interview. http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/950/950839p1.html
By looking at this picture we can tell that sandbox has a blue grid, Possibly only visible during forging sessions. Also what is that orange explosion crap in the distance. ING Article Also this one looks like it may have filter effects.
I just read it and I have to say - OhHolyShitThatThecoolestFuckingThingEVAOMGWTFBBQ I mean this is awesome man. Thanks for posting this, I really like the idea of a "kill ball".
You're very welcome for posting it. ;D And, forgegod, I'm guessing the big orange ball in the distance would be the killball. Which seems to be the death barrier everyones been asking for. I also remember reading something in the article about power weapons in default sandbox. They said something about RIPPED OFF MISSLE PODS. Does that mean there's now an un-ripped version? :O
in matys email to bungie he asked for the unripped version of missle pods that were found on the flood. This is seeming very hopeful. What if they included elephants and shades too.
Elephants I doubt, shades maybe. But this "kill ball" doesn't seem like a death barrier, you can't cover to much space with one ball... Teleporters to out of map seems like a better option still.
