I think that's pretty obvious and that everyone here understands that by now. The debate at this point has really become: Should there be a denotation of how many Featured Maps someone has in their rank bar?
Try to imagine blue bars on a maroon background or bar. Do you know how non-professional that would look. I think that the brown bars on the maroon background is perfect. Either that or black bars on top of it. But there is an obvious difference between the maroon color and the brown color on the two bars.
I'll have to have a look into that. I think it's a great idea to encourage users to have a profile of their work in a blog, but something more integrated and tailor made would be fantastic. You and I having said all that, I set out to go with the result of this poll unless something appeared to have scewed the voting, and there's still some time left until it locks, but atm it looks like it'll be approved by the majority. That brings us neatly to your next point. Just had a brainstorm session off the back of your post. How does this sound? Artisan Ar"ti*san\ (?; 277), n. [F. artisan, fr. L. artitus skilled in arts, fr. ars, artis, art: cf. It. artigiano. See Art, n.]1. One who professes and practices some liberal art; an artist. [Obs.] 2. One trained to manual dexterity in some mechanic art or trade; and handicraftsman; a mechanic. This is willingly submitted to by the artisan, who can . . . compensate his additional toil and fatigue. --Hume. Syn: Artificer; artist. Usage: Artisan, Artist, Artificer. An artist is one who is skilled in some one of the fine arts; an artisan is one who exercises any mechanical employment. A portrait painter is an artist; a sign painter is an artisan, although he may have the taste and skill of an artist. The occupation of the former requires a fine taste and delicate manipulation; that of the latter demands only an ordinary degree of contrivance and imitative power. An artificer is one who requires power of contrivance and adaptation in the exercise of his profession. The word suggest neither the idea of mechanical conformity to rule which attaches to the term artisan, nor the ideas of refinement and of peculiar skill which belong to the term artist. i understand the point rusty makes by the name of premium, but its been widely known now, and to change it to a world like artisan would cause much confusion with many many members i think.
It would be pretty cool. I'd say add them. Just keep in mind when people see like 20 architects, they will think the mods are showing "favoritism" and all that corruption crap will happen even more.
Why does creating a rank for members with 7+ features mean we'll be giving features out to premiums more often? If anyone thinks that they are moronic, and I couldn't care less for their misinformed opinions.
the point of this "rank" in my eyes is for super long term goals. Premiums are a dime a dozen now... architects arent gonna be filling the forums.
"Artisan" makes the current Premium rank seem to focused on aesthetics, which is something we've been trying to avoid. Guilder and Architect seem like two viable options, and I think the negative stigma surrounding Guilder has faded.
How would it show their skill, all it is showing is how many featured maps that they show, but yes It kind of shows consistancy. There is something that the premiums can work for and I think that we really need something like this here at Forgehub.
Holy crap that sounds awesome. It actually means "map maker". What if it went from Architect to Cartographer, would that sound better?
That would be nice acually. I vote yes. Well if I could. Seems that I cannot vote. For that con "The site will look unprofessional", look at what just happened. Staff & Event are gone. Everyone is either like red or orange. So in my opinion it wont add that much to all the other colors. I also think that 'Architect' would be a sick rank.
I would think Cartographer would come first, then followed by Architect or Guilder. And the rank would be green!
