So anyway, Ive been thinking about this map for a while, and this won't be any old competitive map like I usually make, it will be a minigame. I was thinking about an obstacle course, 4v4 with the gametype Assualt. (I'm gonna tweak it, but still.) What I was gonna do was, let someone start out with the bomb (1 red team guy, and 1 blue team guy), and go through a maze. Each maze would be perfectly mirorrod by the other, like all the obstacles in the map. Each would have to get through the maze, and pass the bomb under the doors to the back hallway. Then that person would maneaver themselves (as would the other team) around mancannons in the back hallway, getting to the center and through a teleporter. Then that person would end up at the middle of foundry, and pass the bomb under another wall, door, etc, to another guy on their team, and he would have to climp up a rockwall (again, the other team has to do the same). After getting to the top, he would go through another Tele, and get to the final arena, where he would pass the ball (once again) under a wall. The final person on each team would have to navigate a mini-hurricane katrina type thing (mirrored once again) and get to their bomb plant place of winningzorz. I have gotten about 5% through the map, alot right. Would this be a good idea? Would this be a fun map/gametype. Discuss
It sounds like an interesting map but make it fun and easy. also just make sure to do alot of test on it so poeple dont complain. =)
Sounds very original, like a gameshow! The problem I can see is that it could become very easy to navigate after playing through more than a couple of times. Balancing how easy it is the first time with making sure it has enough longevity is going to be your biggest challenge here, whilst making sure player skill is rewarded and that the winner isn't determined by luck.
Random I like the maze relay game description. Like shock said, though, after the game is played a couple of times you will have a clear advantage over a newcomer. This might be the perfect application for Randomization. Looking forward to seeing your finished version.
That sounds awesome! Keep us posted around here so we can see how it's doing. Message me if you need any help!
Yeah, I had planned to do that randomization thing to make it different everytime. I think I know just how to tweak the gametype as well.
sounds cool. maybe u should post sum pics on this thread. lemme know if u want help <3 ya PINECONES AND APPLES!!!!!!!!!!!
My thoughts exactly. After you would get it the first time, it would be easier and more boring. You would have to make it fun every time. Perhaps, make alternate, yet equal routes. Say, 4. 4 routes for each player: 16 Routes. The player would have to play at least 16 times to experience it all. Another idea is that you could use randomization to make the obstacles different every time. This would be difficult because you would have to make so that every time it possible , but not really easy.
