I know. A lot of them do deserve to be there. I'm just saying that it doesn't make sense to allow access to a forum meant to help the staff and community, to people who have forged good maps in Halo. Forging a map and helping the community are two different things. While it is possible to be both, it is also possible to be one and not the other. Yeah, rank image and color don't bother me so much as giving them special priveleges over regular members. I feel that should be earned by something other than forging skill. It should be earned by your character and your willingness to help others.
Who cares what the reason is behind a person making a great map? As long as I, or you, or anyone else, has fun on it, isn't that all that matters?
Debatable? This is getting out of hand, the rank is put in it's place to give good forgers something for their hard work. May I remind you people that this is a forging site? I could combat all of this saying that loyal is a stupid rank. Just because you have helped people out on the site and bla bla bla does not mean you need a special secret forum. You can continue to help people without a secret forum. Premiums, on the other hand, have worked hard in forge to gain both the respect of the staff, and create a fun map for all to see, and like the real world you should be rewarded for your hard work. And may I also add that premiums/loyals usually go onto becoming and even higher rank because of behind the scenes work.Staff. And while writing this I have reconsidered the Architect rank. My vote it yes if somebody will change it.
You and Neverless both have good points, but I wouldn't get too twisted about all of this since it's not even up for discussion in the Staff forum. I was simply saying that it is debatable based on the fact that some premiums have proved to not be mature enough to handle their rank. A vast majority of Premiums are upstanding members and have done very well in the community not only in Forge, but in their actions within the forums. Edit: Also, you would recieve no other special powers for achieving this rank. Just a new user rank image. And simply pumping out maps doesn't guarantee you would get this, they still have to be good. Consider this motivation to Forge better, especially with Sandbox coming.
Ahh then I misunderstood you. I thought you meant to take away all hub pub access to all premiums. But yeah annoying and non-helpful premiums should be , removed. While your at it, do the staff too.
Twas a joke, he chose to go back to regular. Also, lets all try our best to stay close to topic. I know this is constructive banter, but it's turning into a discussion about whether or not Premiums deserve Pub access.
To be clear: There wouldnt be a full new rank. There will be no final color change to the name. All we'd be adding in is a few images that progress. The final image would be a solid brown bar with the word architect. Theres no new benefits or perks... just a new rank image.
I think that that they changing user bars as suggested would be a very nice addition. When they get to 7 Features they get the final architect user bar. However, I think their name shouldn't change colors, it should stay how it is. Just the user bar would change. Another name color for this website would kind of make it feel cluttered-ish and unprofessional. As for what Felipe Dos said I personally as a Loyal wouldn't mind it at all. The way we would equal it would doing even more of what we did to get there to eventually become a mod. Same as premiums do even more of what they did to eventually become an architect.
You guys are looking way too far into this. There are absolutely no new powers involved with this rank, just the image and the respect.
Exactly. The new respect is what I'm worried about. I fear that the community of newer members will view architects as something greater than loyals, when it isn't true. Loyals are promoted to set an example for the site as a community, premiums are given their rank to set an example for the site in terms of forge. I'm not saying that the majority of premiums aren't upstanding hubbers, but the architects would most likely be given respect in areas they aren't supposed to have it. Look at it this way. Loyal and premium have an equal, if not very similar rank. So loyal = premium But an architect is higher up than a premium. So architect > premium Thinking logically, the community may see architect > loyal But as De4th said, that may be looking too far into it. I still feel the pro of rewarding multi-featured members outweighs the con.
I kind of like the whole idea of having this. People with more than two featured maps really need something like this to show how much work they have implemented into their maps. I vote yes
I really do like this idea, but I will have to agree with the many of people on this that name colors should stay the same. Another problem I have is 7 may be a little much. If a bunch of people know that this one person has been featured 7 times then they may get the impression that favorites are being played in terms of Premiums getting looked at for a feature more then regular members. 4, 5 or 6 however does seem like a great number and lowering the number may help show that it is only a visual prize. Another idea maybe is to let Premiums opt out of this if they want, would definitely be a feature that the many of humble Premiums would like.
I vote yes for multiple reasons. A crucial one being that after the rewarded premium rank some people tend to lower their map count. Premiums then are rather quiet about maps, and some don't even bother to make one. Only a few premiums are still active like Cosmic, Felipe, etc. But with this people can see the accomplishments people made, and the holder receives bragging rights. Not only that, but it will be easier to navigate the number of featured maps a user has, obviously. I'm all for it.
I vote no, seeing as firstly, there's no point in a 7th rank image for only 1 person. TDF, people like that (respect). Being premium is enough. People like TSB will give it up more and more just because of the feeling.
