Are you kidding? The map is at least 1.5 times larger than foundry. It really pissing me off that all anyone ever does is complain. If you all think you can do a better job then go make your own multi million dollar game. Damn
no, like an actual larger foundry, i dont like the looks of it, they look like little kids building blocks, plus all with that nasty color,
i mean, look at it, im sure it will get some graphical upgrades, but the colors etc. of most of the objects give me the sense that i should be flying over them in starfox 64. oh, but with all my griping im sure i will still love the map.
oi didnt say there was a problem with it, that was a fun game, im just tryin to (unsuccessfully) explain that it doesn't seem like the kind of "super foundry" every one though it was going to be.
:.( i was just trying to say that i didnt like the way the map looks, why does everyone have to make fun of me (runs off to room crying)
It is really disappointing to see the Internet is now immune to sarcasm. I'm glad to see the fact you're trying to act new theories, but please refer back to previous pages. Many posts are duplicate theories, ideas, speculations, etc. that is just inflating your post count. And on to my next point. I'm aware I don't have authority over you two, or everyone posting in this thread for that matter, but seriously. It's getting aggravating how people are trying to discuss Sandbox and we get these posts. I hate to single you out, but please. Alot of the discussion in here is irrelevant to Sandbox. And that is just my opinion. I have no power over you, but it is a suggestion. Anyway, has anoyne seen the B.net thread where a user analyzed the picture and saw duplicated items, then made a current forge pallet from what we see in said picture. I'll go find the thread right now and edit it in.
if those little things are the mines that surround sandtrap, i hope you can place them/ control the boundaries yourself, so you dont have to worry about forging a map about the size of the one shown, and have to worry about snipers getting out around the boundaries and ruining everyone's day
According to my Halo game development, that would be quite impossible. To do so, you would have to manipulate your own minefield coordinating with your current mine detectors. Hypothetically it would be possible, but literally it would take Bungie hours upon hours, glitches upon glitches, errors upon errors, etc.'s upon etc's. Though they could make a replacement. Not necessarily a minefield, but something equivalent to it. I don't have any thinking material on that theory, so come up with one on your own.
unless they did it hill/respawn area style, were you could choose rectangle, circle etc. but your prolly right. could make for some interesting maps though, think about it, big floor of pallets, and you never know wich one a mine will shoot out of. 0_o
it would be easier with snowbound style turrets though, have a line extending out of them, and everything on oneside they shoot at, while on the other they dont, just cross these lines, and make your border. that would have some fun minigame / general fun potential.
That is true, and it would be very innovative. Just even with that, it would become repeated and then memorized. People would learn which areas to stay in and which to stay out of, supposing Bungie doesn't spawn a mine at every inch of the selected area. Though back on the contrary, I could not find that B.net thread. I apologize, but it has fallen to the depths of B.net itself, and is possibly lost forever. May it miraculously come up, I will make an immediate attempt to post it here. But onto the Halo Wars thing. The fact that people are buying it solely for Mythic Map pack is ludicrous in my opinion. While the Mythic pack was a great endorsement for the game, it shouldn't be the reason to buy the game. In my opinion it is going to be a great Strategy game, even competing with some of the best. Its a shame people buy since it has goodies. But then again, what is morally right to do when a situation like this is at hand? And even further, I shouldn't be telling people 'what to do'.
xxDeeJxx, don't double post. Just edit it into your other post if you had something to say. I'm proud to say that I just pre-ordered my Halo Wars Limited Edition Edit- I actually didn't really care much for Halo Wars until I heard Mythic was coming with it. Then I looked at videos/previews/screenshots and it actually looks like it will be pretty awesome. If it's not, it'll still be fun, mainly because it's in the Halo universe. Looks like I'll be getting Mythic Map Pack March 3rd. To PlayerHata, I think this was the thread you were talking about. By counting the squares on the ground we can see the flat portion in the middle of Sandbox is 27 X 40 squares in size. For comparison: the main sqare area of Foundry is 15 X 17 boxes the entire area of Foundry, including the back areas is 20 X 25 squares Sandbox is 1.5 times as long as it is wide. If you take 2 Foundries and stack them with their long sides together (total map size, including back areas of the map) you have the aproximate size of Sandbox. Now we know that Sandbox is a larger version of Foundry. It does not appear to be a large blue gridded room. It's also apparent when you look closely that the bases on the map are forged in the same way the default version of Foundry is forged. I've identied the visible forge items on the map. If you zoom in on the photo you can clearly see that the map has two symetrical bases. Look closely and you can see the bases are made up of a few standard pieces that are reused repeatedly throughtout the map. Here's the list of pieces I identified: Ramp Large Square Block Half Large Square Block Half Large Square Block with Corner cut off Large Block with Sloped Edge Large Block with Two Sloped Edges (corner) Small Square Block Tall Rectangular Block (Blue) Tall Rectangular Block (Red) Short Pyramid "Quarterr" (with Door) Flat "Platform" or "Wall" Small "Pyramid" Block (Pyramid Top) Funky Sandtrap Style "Ribs" Blue Base Indicator (Blue Glowing Orb) Red Base Indicator (Red Glowing Orb) Overshield Powerup He's definitely wrong on some things (as he's not from Bungie) but it's a good reference if you wanted more information.
now who's off topic 0_o yeah, i preordered the special edition, but thats cause i love RTS's and i love halo. my bet is that it turns out to not be as good as everyone expected, i might like it way better if it wen company of hero's (i think) style, and the soldiers actually took cover etc, which helped the outcome of the battle, but i dont think i'll like marines just standin there, while grunts launch of one needle at a time, and they sit there trading hit-for-hit. the base indicators should be nice for creating atmosphere though.
You quoted me just saying "here you go" when I actually added a quote from bnet right next to it. in which I was contributing to the discussion.
Thank you for finding that. I can't quite remembered if that was it, for I vaguely remember snapshots of each item. But that is basically the same thing, seeing there were many of those threads sprouting up on that day. I'm glad sandbox is larger then Foundry, and a clear square, no walls, stairs, etc. in the way. I'm thriving for the weekly updates to come for possible information on any releases of items on the pallet and such, that weren't included in the video. Seeing Sandbox is said to be forge orientated, they might to about presenting this different from how the present other maps. I hope so.
