I already explained the "Environment 1" thing. Some of you worry me... I dont know what you're gonna do when you get to the real world. EDIT: see! VVVV
http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Halo3/Screenshots/H3_DLC_RatsNest_Environment-01.jpg It's just the general nomenclature.
The one day I stay home, I miss the entire discussion due to my sleeping habits. DAMN YOU NYQUIL! DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! ::shakes fist angrily at the sky::
Bungie.net : Inside Bungie : News Here's the update, just in case you guys are too scared to venture out of this contagious disease we know as Forge Hub.
**** YEA! Doesn't everyody remember me saying this!? Nobody believed me. Pwnt, I do believe. Anayway, it's safe to assume the pic isn't a fake on account of Shish and Urk explaining LOD algorithms and such? EDIT: Okay then, a Bungie update reguarding the manner would totally answer it all. This always happents to me. I ask a question that someone sneaks in a post before me containing the answer.
The update really didn't reveal much more than we already know, but I think we can dissect enough info from this image to last us until the next little tid bit of info is revealed. Of course we can always try prodding Urk and Shishka for info, but when has that ever worked?
Quite true. "hey urk, what is this?" "That, I do believe, would be a computer-generated photo, of the jpeg manner."
That was quite a lol'ing matter. Anyway, DTL explained it perfectly. The information they presented is nothing new to us. But they did illuminate the fact that there will be more snack previews to come, and definitely more pancake theories.
I'm just happy knowing it's forge-oriented. I'd rather wait until release to discover anything else. For now, I am rushed to get my next and probably final Foundry variant done.
Same here, I've suddenly realized no one is going to care about foundry variants once Sandbox has been released. I'm just glad we'll have two viable forging opportunities, and a warm forging color pallet.
It's computer generated, which is why it's a higher resolution than Halo 3 can create. That's probably why the OS is more transparent than normal (Could be in suspended animation) Also possibly proves that the orbs are not visible in the actual game, yet because it's not Foundry, we can't see the tear drops either. Might also mean that the sky textures and the draw scale that suddenly fades to what is likely the worst colour i have ever seen, is present. Hopefully the final wont feature a wall of solid fog.. in a desert at sunset. I wrote down the forge pallet available from this map before, and i must say it's pretty diverse. I just hope there are enough of each object to allow for some wacky creations to be made, and i also hope that this map has the height available for those creations.
You know what I just realized? No more geo-merging with the walls of a larger map. Perhaps sand, but I see Geo-glitching being used quite a bit less in Sandbox.
" large-scale vehicular combat with a limitless amount of Forge customization. Boasting a tiered, open-world layout," Pancake theory
As long as grenades still slip through the cracks, I'll be geo-merging as well. If pancake theory turns out to be true, then you win at the internet..... and Urk should buy you dinner or something for decoding his message of deliciousness.
Yeah, I now definitely think that there is more to Sandbox that meets the eye. I can't wait for the next info on it! I'm psyched!
omg the map in that pic is so cool how getz the sand in thar? newayz needs moar interl0x. and also u need like... weapons. 2.5/5 sorry for that. anyways... I think what you (Urk and Shishka) are doing is admirable, keeping the forgers almost sane until we get some major and considerably more official info. anyways, I have a question that others have had, and I'm going to try and make it answerable without much room for misinterpretation. can we to assume accurately infer that the little light poles in the sand are in some way related to mine fields, or if that is too much to confirm, how about something extremely vague that seems to convey the point. are those "things" with "lights" in the "sand" going to provide any customization of the boundaries for custom maps? I notice they are very neatly arranged, so they're either set and that's it, or they are somewhat like spawn areas, hills, territories, etc. in shape/size. (or something else ) to be concise: "What is the significance of the lights that form a ring around Sandbox?" light things: again, thanks for what you've done and whatever else you do for us. I understand if this can't be answered yet.
Worst. Screenshot. Evarr. Glare from the sun should be much greater, and draw scale increased. All environmental effects in Halo are far too subtle. They should take a more demanding role in the game instead of being almost unnoticable.
I just realized the epic mini game maps that will be conceived using the minefield. I can't even think of anything, but I know someone else will. I mean there are so many simple things you can do with it. Like how about AZN's new Hot Potato variant except in the minefield (which is an awesome idea BTW) or some type of tremors that takes place in the minefield. Even multiple obstacle courses. Epic win. Why has no one made tremors on Sandtrap yet? This is all assuming there's a minefield of course.
