    Hey everybody,
    I was thinking about an idea for a really great map, called ODST. I can't get on my xbox, and my LIVE adapter is not working. So I thought maybe i could get some ideas thrown around and maybe see some people make some examples before I do this with my friend. So anyway, heres my idea.

    Description:
    ODST is a map named so because of the idea it's based around. The map is centered around either 2-4 ships, half covenant half UNSC. In the UNSC ship, the only way out would be to use drop pods, which will probably be something blocking off the hole until someone grabs a custom powerup and sends it flying down. Once down, the ODST's would have to bring a bomb(found in the ship) to a bomb point in one of 2 places: a wrecked UNSC ship(having to blow it up due to the Cole Protocol), or the Covenant ship. each has its advantages and disadvantages to go to. the Covenant ship is more heavily defended, as well as being harder to get to(maybe a grav lift like the one in halo 1 to get in?), wheras the UNSC ship is on the ground and easier to get to, but is farther away, and right in the LOS of several turrets on the covenant ship. the covenant could also be given a goal, like bringing a bomb to the human ship, but it would make gameplay more dificult. perhaps we should experiment. the main feature of this map would be the 3 ships, and maybe a few warthogs and ghosts.

    Gameplay:
    The ODST's will have no shields, but will have 150% damage resistance(or higher if its too easy to kill them) to reflect the fact that they are humans, but tough and armored as well. one ODST pod will have a custom powerup that makes you Master Chief. basically this just gives you 150 damage resistance and 125 shields, plus you go faster and jump a little higher.

    the covenant will have full shields, and 100 % damage resistance. they also get the covenant weapons(needlers, plasma rifles, covenant carbines, etc.). all sides start with pistols, as incentives to get thier respective sides weapons. this way you dont see the covenant running around with assault rifles instead of plasma rifles.

    human weapons:

    1 shotgun
    1 sniper(2 clips)
    8 AR's
    8 BR's
    4 SMG's
    1 RL
    several turrets on each side of the ship
    16 frags, 2 in front of each pod
    2 firebomb grenades


    Covenant weapons:
    1 beam rifle
    8 covenant carbines
    16 plasma rifles
    1 mauler
    4 plasma pistols
    1 fuel rod gun
    16 plasma nades, 2 in front of each pod
    3 turrets on each side of ship

    Try to think of a better name.
    No one else post about this. Maybe except a mod.

    should be in forge discusion, But it's okay we still love you... Or do we? but anyway the concept seems pretty good, may have to use it on one of my maps if ya don't mind... giving you credit for the gametype that is.

    well once again, im really just throwing the concept out there and let it kinda snowball before i use any time on it(i only have 2 hours on the xbox every friday, hoping i can get full rights back on my b-day, in april). so anyway i think i would like to make it on avalanche, blocking off the bases and stuff so it is just half of it with the ships and cliffs. perhaps someone could try a rough draft of it first and post it here, then we could try improving it and such.

    I am working on something kind of like this. The ODSTs spawn in drop pods over the beach in last resort, and the enemy base is all covie weapons. I havent done any work there in a while though. It might be a while before im done.

    I personally LOVE this idea. The Master Chief thing is cool, but maybe instead of 125% shield, just 100% because the shields represent a spartan anyway. Also, maybe you could have one of the aliens be the Arbiter. That way it's an even match.

    I could try and do a rough draft on Avalanche. I'm not the best forger, but hey, it's a rough draft.

    yeah i aslo think its agood idea,but idk about doing it on Avalanche...
    maybe Infection(but5 you dont have too much to work w/ soooooo:/)
    but its sound pretty good tho:)

    I think Avalanche would work best because it has the most room, and has items that are more suitable for building ships (IMO.)

    Dang, I have been working on a map like this for a long time now. Please note that if another person does this I reserve the right to post mine and not get mad for map theft.

    Also I may be able to help on the game-type. Mine was to be called ODST too. Maybe when my Xbox gets back we could collaborate this

    well, i considered doing an arbiter, but the covenant already have full shields and damage resistance, so an arbiter would offset things even more. maybe if the humans were defending, and had a better advantage an arbiter would be ok, but it could still offset the balance master chief creates. the concept for that was to balance gameplay more, but then evolved and i thought about master chief. anyway im so glad youre that enthusiastic about my idea. thanks for the support.

    yeah itd be really cool to collaborate, but as i said my stupid live adapter is not working. as soon as i get it working ill post what i have at that point. maybe ill bring my Hard drive to my friends house, who has LIVE right now. anyway it seems we have several people who would be willing to help. lets get something going now then:

    if you want to help forgegod and bluetooth make a rough draft, just tell us and lets try setting a date for this.

    im glad this idea took off like it did

    A while back, I attempted to make a slayer gametype based off of the GI cover article on Recon (now ODST). Originally, people didn't have any shields, and head shots were on. No matter how I changed the ratio between damage resistance and damage, it was one shot kill with head shots, just like swat, or it took a ridiculously large amount of body shots to kill anyone. It just wasn't practical. I had to turn head shots off for it to work at all without shields.

    I recently decided to make it with shields, which is actually more like how they described the game (the ODST's don't have shields, but their health regenerates). It took a while to get the traits right, but it works much better. If anyone decides to make a gametype that is supposed to be like Halo 3: ODST or such, I would suggest you use shields, but have low damage resistance-damage ratio (something like 75%:90% I can't remember what it was exactly.)

    I'm sure you won't. So, am I making a rough draft from scratch, or are we going to use yours, or should we both make a roug draft and compare them?

    Also, it's Bluedude, not tooth, lol.

    I think it would be good but the odst's would be to easy to kill with a carbine. With no shields it would one headshot and there out. I like the general concept of it though.

    This doesn't belong here. If you have ideas for a map then you will have to post them in the "Forge Discussions Forum." I know you know the rules by now Spartan. The Map forums is only for actual maps...

    well like sotha sill said, maybe we should have shields, but lower damage resistance. to the point where it would take 2-4 headshots to kill ODST's. but when you think about it, headshot kills are more realistic. maybe everybody should have headshot kills. idk.

    @ bluedude:
    yeah i think you should check out his map first, then post some screenies and such, then we can see where it goes from there. if you wanna make a rough draft then go ahead, maybe it'll give us another idea or something
