I don't know. Maybe Orbital or Assembly will be a much better version of Blackout for making sky bases, obstacle courses, Transfusion like maps and many other Blackout maps.
you kinda have a point there of course assembly would be good but im not sure about orbital since im pretty sure its all indoors. but if you could get out of it,that would be awesome for not just making but playing out-of-Orbital maps cuz you'd be fighting in space with the stars and such surrounding you.
Well when they said "First Halo 3 level set in outer space", I assumed it would be at least partly outside. I just looked at a bunch of pictures and from what they've shown us, there's no outside. But you never know with Bungie. Also, on a side note, I found this on the Halo Wiki: A brief clue to its place in the Halo universe was posted by Lukems on 01.20.2009 2:40 PM PST: "Forerunner structures are often so vast, so towering and so exaggerated that they'd be visible from a number of different excavation sites." So what I'm getting from that is that Sandbox may be set in another place like Sandtrap. Since they are "visible from a number of different excavation sites", I think that Sandtrap would be one of the excavation sites and Sandbox is another of the excavation sites. Since in that picture of Sandbox, there is one of the light tower things, maybe in Sandbox you are able to see the tower that also resides in Sandtrap. So maybe they are connected in that Sandbox is right next to Sandtrap, and only a small part of it is visible. Edit- Oh, and imagine the amazing Conquest maps we'll get from Orbital! I will definitely be the first to make it. I've also heard about switches that provide or close access to certain areas on the Wiki. I get the feeling that Orbital is the spiritual creation of that one idea on bungie.net that has 100's of pages of replies. Maybe there's some type of bridge on it.
In the picture didn't it look closer to the tower then it is in sandtrap maybe it is the mine field with mines turn off or maybe thats a view from outside the map I do think it has something to do with sandtrap. And for the "its a barren wasteland or is it" I believe that is a hint telling something about sand box. Maybe it is under sandtraps forerunner things and there is a secret entrance to the top just a guess, Maybe there is a hidden secret on sandtrap and on sandbox it is still sandtrap but there is another area openned up, taking a lot of guesses here lol, but maybe it is a combat map but a little part of the map is dedicated to forge. Maybe it is inside the tower and you can go out I don't know but i think i have some good guesses. EDIT: you know that long bridge like thing in the minefield that you can't get too that connect to the towers maybe it is inside there and you can get out.

How is Epitaph related to it though? I don't know if it's in the same way, because by Lukems comment there it really seems like Sandbox is close enough to see the towers in Sandtrap. I'll go see if I can find how they're related.
all three are most likely in the same general area of the ark, Epitaph is just farther away and cant be seen or see sandtrap or the towers think of all the maps on halo 3 almost all of the exist on the ark (except Avalanch, Blackout, Snowbound, the Pit, and a few others.) try to position all that are on the ark in the right spot the ark has every terrain as Earth, avalanch and Snowbound i believe are on The destroyed Halo that is being rebuilt, im not exactly sure about Snowbound however.
I know most are on Halo. But I did look at the Wiki article again and I saw the Epitaph picture of outside. I never even knew that Epitaph was up there, I guess I just hated Epitaph so much I never really looked at it. But if you don't know, it's in the middle of the desert on a giant tower with 6 or 7 paths coming off. This may be a stretch but maybe you can see Epitaph from inside Sandbox.
CLEARLY, sand box is the hidden city underneath sandtrap with all the secret vehicles bungie didn't release to us! OMGWTFBBQ
that doesnt make any sense. Bungies just releasing another map pack no new vehicles or wepons. the only thing new well see will be the maps and the forging content that they contain.
It was a joke...there was a kid on bungie.net who was convinced that if you used all the explosives on sandtrap on one little hole that he thought had air blowing out of it, you would blow away all the sand and a hidden city would be revealed.
yet i don't remember bungie stating that the other maps wont have advanced forging like sandbox does for all we know they could be slightly better in forge than the other dlc and non dlc maps. please correct me if bungie have stated this
you have a point there. but im not as interested in assembly or orbital as much as longshore, but thats apperently not going to be in this map pack.
Still, doesn't mean it will be a good forge based map I'm not going to speculate, it's pointless, we'll know soon enough.
That's just Sandtrap. Good drawing though. Except for the night-time ness and the lack of the tall tower at the left. Maybe you can make Sandtrap using the map editor?
