    Discuss time.

I had a big problem with it though. They made this whole speech about how the Blacks weren't equal with the whites. Then they got as many African Americans they can, and used them for the ceremony. It's like they were celebrating like they got their equal rights for the first time! That pissed me off! We always treated them equal ever since MLK gave his speech.

You're exactly right. The second after Martin Luther King gave that one speech he ever gave, The Whites did a total 180 and let darkie sit in the front of the bus. I'm sure it was equal treatment when MLK was assassinated; it was balanced out by the two Kennedy's getting killed!

That's pretty funny. I never realized you were that full of ****.

Discrimination is still not gone, for instance average salaries of white males are far above black women, and such. I really liked the speech, he's a great speaker. I was surprised he didn't make any or many references to the MLK speech or any 'catch phrases'

I liked the review of historic events in america, and a few other things, but I wouldn't call it a great speech. I liked his presidential acceptance speech better.

As for the race thing, it is a very monumental thing in America for African Americans. Should Barack of mentioned it? Yes. Should he of spent more then a few sentences on it? No.

I liked, "A man whose father may not have been serviced at a restaurant 60 years ago is now taking a most important oath"

Really? I never heard of that. If it IS still happening, then I have no problem with the speech, but I don't remember a time when we had a major black incident.

Anyhow, I wasn't worried about Barack Obama's speech, but rather the pastor's. It really bothered me that time.

    Encouraging

I guess it is encouraging that you seem to have no sense at all of the amount of racism still present in this country. Just curious, what state do you live in?

I saw something this day, on this forum, that discriminated against blacks, from someone I wouldn't have expected.

Are you 100% sure whites still consider and treat blacks equally?

Don't hate on Frag Man. There is discrimination on both sides. Recently there was a lawsuit where a white man sued Harvard because he had better marks than a black man that applied and the black man got in. The lawsuit was successful. So there.

If he is going to talk about discrimination, then he should talk about it in a whole sense, not just towards blacks. Why not discuss the discrimination towards Jews, Hispanics, Muslims, etc. In my personal experience I see more hate and racism towards the Jewish population and the Muslim population. And I live in the south, FFS.

    Our Black Oppressers

Occasionally it rains in the desert, but you can't describe it as rainy. The case you are talking about involves affirmative action, which was put in place to help counteract the overwhelming amount of racial injustice and unfair hiring practices against black people. You have one example of slight racial injustice working in the opposite direction where a white guy didn't make it into Harvard. Since your example did not include nooses, dogs, or fire hoses I will take that to mean that you understand that discrimination against blacks by whites is not even remotely close to comparable to blacks discriminating against whites. So there.

    Nothing about religion yet?

This government, based on having no religious influence, had a prayer during the inauguration. Made me feel kinda out of place as an atheist.

I believe that he has every right to acknowledge his race and he has shown us that he doesn't spend all his time talking about it.
And when you say "they" got as many African-Americans as they could for the ceremony, who do you refer to?

    ,

That is not how our country works, the people that work hard get farther. All this politically correct **** should not be here, just because the statistics show that white may have better grades does not mean you should alter them. And I live in a area where I am discriminated against all the time. And nobody alive today has anything to do with slavery or any of that, people who ***** about that should shut up and get off their asses. Honestly, something that happened a long time ago is affecting them today? Of course I do not speak for every black person, as if ALL are doing said things. There are people of which I speak of in every race. What your saying is that black people can't succeed because their ancestors were discriminated against? Bull ****. Call me a racist, I am not racist. Seeing everybody as an equal involves stuff like the person with the better marks getting into the school. So if you say that blacks are not equally treated, then your wrong. And in the case of hurricane Katrina(who ever said this) Your saying that the government did not help people in New Orleans because they are black? That is Bull **** again. The mayor of New Orleans(who is black I might add) ignored the warnings that this was a huge storm and did not tell the people to get the hell out of there. And the people who were told to get out did not. It is not the government's fault that you can't get out. It is but the fault of yourselves if you ignore the warnings. And what I found ridiculous was that during the storm, people would loot the stores and then get caught by floods. And then expected to be rescued! Then extremists try to take over New Orleans, like savages, calling it "chocolate city." As if it was the whites fault that they are stuck there. The government/coast guard acted as well as they could when people where stuck, if you say they did not. Then why did they people not act either? And if they were stranded because of the storm, did you ever think that the coast guard would not be impaired as well? Seriously this blame whitey for everything has got to stop.

Yes, he has a right, but it's basically calling people who don't treat them with disrespect liars, and abusers.

This is not directed specifically to you, but to everyone. Affirmative action is achieved by having organizations follow specific guidelines and goals to ensure that they have a balanced and representative workforce. Not just African Americans, but all races, sexes and ethnicity's. Deathtolls case is a case of reverse discrimination. It's pretty much like a "catch 22".

Sure, we can all argue semantics on who gets discriminated against more. However, discrimination happens to everyone. Italians, Irish, African Americans, Native Americans, etc.

Not just one prayer, it was more like two or three. It made me feel really uncomfortable, I just can't wait for the day an Atheist becomes president.

Exactly. The majority of the Country is Christian, and therefore voters don't think our country can run without it.
