Just finished a forge-through of the map. The aesthetics are impressive, to say the least. I was especially impressed that you took the time to merge the boxes up. However, like "The Yellow", I found several of the jumps to troublesome. I'm not certain what could be done to remedy this. The map seems incredibly small, to the point that it would seem best suited for 1v1 slayer.
Played this while you were testing. It was a great map, tons of fun. There was a place where it was a little hard to jump though, I think it was the fencebox on the first level, did you change it?
Yes I do believe we changed that. Also many people were complaining about the weapon choice. Providence and I both agreed on having all covenant weapons. We did this because we thought that the map felt very much like a covenant map. Now for the individual weapons; we wanted something strong that everyone would want, but still would not over power the map, so we went with the mauler for the center of the map. Also as one of the main weapons around the map we put carbines because we thought that it had a much better aim, and played a lot better than an assault rifle. Many people also complained about the beam rifle in the defenders base. We chose to give the defenders a beam rifle because you were able to quickly eliminate many opponents with it that would be coming up the middle and successfully defend your base. We have done many play tests with it and for me it is one of my favorite weapons to use on the map because it is so useful, but at the same time it doesn’t over power the map because of the large about of cover. I hope I have answered any questions about the weapons on the map, and thanks for all of those who have commented and DL the map.
Hot damn. This map looks fantastic. The whole idea of the ark is just wonderful, plus it seems that you have cleverly thought out ways to move around the map. Not to mention it seems like you need some serious jumping skills though, but that's not that big of a problem. I am going to immediately download this to try it out. I will get back to you on how it plays, but it seems to be promising so far. Nice job.
Great job Toppum. I am glad you posted this it is very good. I remeber giving you advise on adding the window panel ramps and helping you find the missing door. This map is great fun on 1v1v1v1 king of the hill. This map is really good. Everyone should download this
Love it aesthetically, looks like it could be a really competitive map in some cases. The only thing I would worry about is it's getting a little complex. The map looks like it could be only close-quarters combat and no long-range stuff.
I for one am disgusted by the morbid obesity of this map. Nah, I'm jk this is an awesome map. In fact it is so awesome that I am writing the review on my iPod at midnight. I don't recall getting credit in your main post I guess I'll just go jump off of something. I played a game of free-for-all on this, and while the aesthetics are amazing, the gameplay is downright bad. It was very cramped and it was hard to get anywhere in the level. It was also very disorienting for me. The aesthetics really are great though, that center piece is awesome.
Wow this map I have to say is one of the coolest looking ones I have seen. The big middle tri-leg thingy is very awsome to. This map looks very good for slayer, and team slayer. I would like to see this in matchmaking.Good job.5/5
Wow, that middle structure is EPIC. It looks kind of cramped but maybe it plays well. It does seem like there would have to be alot of jumping involved. I dont know how that would effect the gameplay, but maybe its cool. Your weapon setup seems a little different but who knows, that could be awesome. I will have to play some games for a full review, but I hope this isnt 'all aesthetics'.
Yes there is a lot of jumping involved, but that was for a reason. Providence and I wanted to make a map that was relatively based around jumping. For me jumping and some other stuff is what makes Halo so amazing, and we wanted to make a map that recognizes that. Now some may complain that jumping may affect game play, but we made sure that all your jumps are well placed and could become very tactical and beneficial. I have already previously posed about the weapons so I won’t say anything about that. Also don’t worry, the whole map isn’t based all about aesthetics. Many things in the map have a reason. Now don’t get me wrong; while I am Sir Toppum Hat and you all now how much I love aesthetics, I made sure that the map was very interesting to look at, and hopefully put some stuff in the map that you haven’t seen before. I played a 3v3 One Flag game on this, and I gotta say, it was CRAMPED. Seriously, I would NOT recommend this for anything bigger than 2v2. Though I think the map obviously looks cool, I don't like the fact that you have to jump to get anywhere. Actually, I don't like that on any map, so that's just a general complaint. However, I did like the man cannon ride up the wall to the flag, and the Beam Rifle placement was a good choice. Still, for once, I would recommend not having any BRs or Carbines on this map, as it is simply too small to provide a consistent need for them. AR starts are necessary, and the weapons on the map are generally good, though it would be cool to stick a low-ammo Brute Shot somewhere in the center of the map. In addition, the upper pathways leading from the defender's base were quite nice, and I appreciated the lack of bumps and near-seamless interlocking. The map was logical overall, though as I said, I don't like the vertical movement factor. Keep in mind though, anything over 2v2 and spawn killing becomes rampant. That's about it. To steal a line from TDHarding, this map delivers some good, fast n' sweaty 2v2 action.
As one of the first to play providence's map, I've got to say that it is just all around epic. The asthetics are amazing, gameplay is great, and he put an extreme amount of thought into minute details. You should most definitely dl this map. You won't be sorry. Btw providence, this is Double Kill
There might be sense I just finished the Super Top Secret Map with Insane54. I will have to talk to Providence, but don’t be surprised of you do end up seeing a v2. If you have any ideas of what could possibly be in the v2 or what could map the over all map better, please let me know.
I think there will be a V2 mabey on sand box, EVERY who does not like the amount of jumping on the map I PLAY BUMPERJUMPER which makes it very easy to jump around the map and be sneaky me and toppum created this map as a very vertical map that was the plan at the begining everything that was done have a point to it, there is alot of close combate in the map but it can be avoded by getting ither in the sniper perch or on the 3rd floor of the ark. thanks again for all the posts and support from all mine and toppums friends and others who helpped out, thanks to anoobisking (orange) who help with the pics
