Sandbox Discussion - Watch your spam.. (Interview links in OP)

Tom Clancy's EndWar, Supreme Commander, Command and Conquer? They were all tailor-made for consoles. I liked EndWar for a bit (the demo), but it got very boring. However EndWar was the only one that was actually appealing. I quit the C&C demo after a minute (mainly because I don't like C&C in the first place) and Supreme Commander got too terrible of reviews to even try. I'm still going to buy Halo Wars just for Mythic though, so I'll give it a try. Hope to see you online

 

True but endwar has pretty good controls and they mostly focused on the voice part. But none of them were made by ensemble studios. (I don't think)

 

In an update somewhere Bungie staff said Sandbox is 'a safe place to play with your toys'. Since that pic IS sandbox, it must be sandtrap with no mines and death barriers. And it must have all the good items and such.

 

My two thoughts:

1. I wonder if it's sandtrap, like many have said, only flattened and your able to put a lot of sweet immovable objects in it (like those half-arch things)

2. bungie is messing with us

 

Of course it's not.
Its a drawing based on Sandtrap's terrain.
Even in the Bungie Post it said:

They didn't even specify that it was of Sandbox.

I circled the "questionable" content that Bungie put on the webcam. What could that be?

I see an Assault Rifle, radar, ammo/grenade inducator and strange geometry...

hey i have an idea... what if sandbox is the name for a full on map editor they made, that you can do most anything with.. maybe like FC2. my thought is that maybe they remade sandtrap with Sandbox? just a thought..

 

It looks like that "lighthouse" is a central theme in both maps. I can only hope that we're given a flat, clean surface to work on, with many, many objects. Although this image above leaves me worried.

 

Sand Tarp, then. Perhaps this new map is below the level of Sandtrap in a vast Brute Tomb.

 

which would explain why the BG is darker on the drawing, now maybe its just like that cause he drew it, but when i first saw the picture, my first thought wasnt "Sandtrap!", my first thought was "Cool, it looks like a huge metal cover over the whole thing.

 

I'm more interested in the Mars rover, that's ****ing awesome!

 

Why speculate? You won't actually know until you know, and when you know there won't be anything you can do to change it for better or worse. Sure it's fun to plan and guess..but meh guys don't get too worked up.

 

If you try and save the picture from the bungie update the titl is FOOLSVIEW. Can't bring myself to belive that it is a sandtrap remake.

Were not worrying, were speculating. It's better than to not even think about it at all because then there would be nothing to do.

It's kinda like -- the Joker (from Batman) doesn't wanna kill the Batman because it's just too fun. Batman doesn't really want the Joker dead, well, because he's not like that.

See, if there was nothing to complain or "worry" in this case, then this thread would have already died along with many others and, that just wouldn't be fun anymore.

 

I think what sandbox is, is quite obvious. It is merely sandtrap that contains a shishka's drawings filter that makes everything look like his drawing. And unlike assembly and orbital, you can't take it off. O NOES
