    HARDPOINT Version 2

Covenant orbital strikes reduced New Mombasa's skyline to dust. What little remains stands tribute to the fallen. 2-10 players

    Hardpoint: n. - 1. A series of fortifications. 2. A strong defensive potision.
Totaled Time (initial construction): 13 Hours
    Estimated Time (Tweaks): 1 Hour+
    Estimated Time (Version 2 Changes): 2 &1/2 hours+
    Estimated Time (Playtesting): 3 & 3/4 Hours+
    Total Development Time: 20 & 1/4 Hours +
Hardpoint is an asymmetrical map that was forged from a need to create something that was genuinely enjoyable and looked good. Version one had a few issues with spawns and weapon balance. Version 2 not only adressed these issues, but improved the overall flow of gameplay on the map. As if that wasn't enough, the playspace of the map has also been massively increased. The map is comprised of three buildings: Defense Base, The Office, and the destroyed Skyscraper which serves as offense base. Two of the map's three power weapons are located in the office, providing an even footing for each team in terms of acquisition time. Long lines of sight allow for distanced engagements, while tight quarters areas provide up-close and personal encounters should you desire them. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, BR battles on the office's roof are guaranteed to give you a spike. The map has a feel akin to that of Lockout in that nearly every portion of it has a minimum of three access points. Additionally, shortcuts (in the form of jumps) are present all over the place, another characteristic shared by Lockout. As of this writing, Hardpoint versions one and two total over 930 downloads.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Supported Gametypes(recommended are bolded):
FFA & Team Slayer (3-6 players (FFA); 3v3v3, 4v4 (Team))
    Capture the Flag
    Assault
    Oddball
Team King of the Hill (2v2v2; 3v3)
Territories (Some of the MOST intense games you've ever seen)(6-8 players)

    Tips:
    Defense
    - In Territories, The Bridge (#2) and its sister (#5) are often the first territories to fall to enemy assaults. The longer you can protect these, the better your chances of
    winning.
    - Capture the flag games are often quite difficult for defending teams. It often pays to send one man to hide in Offense's base to stop the Flag carrier in the event that
    your defense is overrun.
    Offense
    - Taking Territories 2 & 5 early on can provide 2 easy captures, but as these territories are often neglected by defending teams, it may pay to have only one member
of your team take these while the rest of your team focuses on the other territories.
    - Once secured, Territory 2 is an excellent position to support your teammates as they attempt to take territory 4.
    - Initially, it may seem that anyone taking the Bubble Shield entrance into defense base must go through the double box housing defense's Brute Shot. However, a
little clever Crouching can permit you access over the red pipes.
    Symmetrical games/FFA
    - Securing the Shotgun provides a significant advantage when it is used in the close confines of the Office. However, the sheer number of entrances to this building
make it very risky for campers.
    - It is possible to jump into the hole where the Needler spawns in the Sniper Tower, but crouch-walking to the other side renders you extremely vulnerable to
    grenades.
    - Removing a sniper on the bridge becomes a much easier proposition with Plasma Grenades or a Brute Shot.
    - There is a small ledge in the new Sniper spawn that can be used to camp. Be careful however, as a small gap there allows opponents to throw grenades in behind
    you.

    HighLife V2

Not even plush living establishments could escape the war. Many were requisitiones as munitions storage sites. 2-8 players

Highlife is a symmetrical map made in Foundry that represents a mansion. My personal vision for the map would be something like HALO 2's Ivory Tower, though only in the visual sense. If it were possible to skin the map, it would have hardwood paneling, marble floors, and ornate stone columns. Highlife boasts two identical bases for each team, a balcony with a curved tunnel, and two 'wings' which branch from said balcony. The center is adorned with two inward facing awnings underneath players can find a gravity lift. Between the two default bases is the maps Sniper Tower, boasting both the SRS-99D and a deployable bubble shield. For those who are suckers for detail, you may notice that the boxes on blue team's side sho the UNSC insignia when possible, while Red team's side of the map has
as few of these showing as possible.

    Entrenchment

    Description. 2-5 players
Despite what many have asserted to be a pleasing aesthetic, I am personally convinced that Entrenchment's only strength is that it plays differently than any of my other maps. Hence, I view the map as is something of the weak link in this golden chain. Entrenchment is a small asymmetrical map built in Foundry. The map uses extensive Geo-merging and Interlocking to create a trench theme and varied playstyles.

    Totaled Construction Time(Including Tweaks): 07:21:49+

I've wanted to make a trench themed map for some time now, but I never had a good inspiration for one. After hitting the proverbial nail on the head with Hardpoint, I decided to attempt to make a map that was neither urban nor fortress based. After wondering what to do I decided to give trench warfare another shot. The end result was Entrenchment. Slayer, Koth, Territorries and Oddball are the only gametypes that the map supports, as its small size doesn't lend itself to many objective games. Defending teams start in the bunker that occupies the back left corner of the map and are provided with a pair of Battle Rifles, two sticky grenades, a Carbine and a Regenerator. Attacking teams start in the other corner of the map with a pair of Battle rifles, 2 plasma grenades, one Carbine and a Trip Mine. The teams are separated by the map's principal feature: the trenches.

I downloaded them all but only got a 1v1 on the last one, and it plays great, although the gameplay mostly focused on the large building.....that might just be me though. Overall, great set of maps! Keep it up!

um, why such a bad rating? It looks like he took tons of time perfecting, and re perfecting these maps. It also looks like he spent quite a bit of effort on the post too. 4.9/5 for 1st map, due to a [small] bit of bad interlox and there is no such thing as a perfect map.. i think.. for 2, I am wondering, how easy is it to get to the second story "wings" with only a few ramps? for number 3, looks astounding, you should make a whole post just for it, With more pictures. 4.95/5 Great job man [imaginary +rep]

Hmm... you like them all but gave a rating of 4.5/10?
Anyway, they all look great, both aesthetically and gameplay-wise. A definite DL from me.

Highlife would have to be my favorite, LT. But, they are all great. We need to get some more games going when this whole Xbox thing blows over.

    Great job.

cool maps, here's my take on them :D

1 it looks promising, and for the most part the interlocking is good; however, you do have a few sloppy interlocks that really tarnish the map. if you do a v3 i would recomend redoing some of them.

2 this is my favorite of the three. i really liked ivory tower and it really feels like you captured teh same essence with this map. thats purty much it.

3 of the three, this one looks the most innovative, the trench system stands out nicely, and the geomerging looks really clean and well-done.

note: it seems as if you took some of the structures from 2 and 3 and smooshed them into an enclosed map, it would make for a sick piece of work. i might actually do it myself if thats ok with you...

    Highlife? really?

I've looked over Harpoint several times and can't find any glaring mistakes with it as pertains to interlocks. Where, specifically are you referring to?

Just updated the pix for Entrenchment. Honestly I'm surprised at the poll's results thus far. Personally, Hardpoint is my favorite out of all my maps. Not to say that I don't like HighLife, it's definitely my 2nd fave, I just like Hardpoint more.

Hey Lt, just here to compliment you on your maps. My favorite is Hardpoint Territories and KoTH on High Life is a joy to play. Thanks for letting me in on the testing. I didn't enjoy Entrenchment too much, but I think you did the best you could with the design you were going for. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, as soon as I get my paws on Sandbox I'll be starting on two maps, Hardpoint V3 and one called Hangar. I wish sandbox had come out earlier, Highlife could have been so much more.
