I'm still looking for a good one for my MLG/Competitive map. As _aj said, it needs to roll off the tongue nicely and seem to fit well with the 'MLG' prefix (might use two different synonym names for each version). The closest so far has been 'Helix' but it doesn't really describe the map well and seems clitche for some reason. So far, its gone by the name Super Top Secret Project 01 006. Because 006 is so much better tahn 007.
Like, say you name your map quarantine. And it's pretty much normal infection, you're not theming the map off of the name. Or vise versa. Didn't Dom have a map called Helix?
I think he did.. But ya i always thought that foreign languages or latin are really cool to name maps with. If you can search up a english -> latin translator and see what you can come up with through general unique words you can get through your map

Any more for the Brute game? *reposting the original post because of the new page* Map Style: Mini-game Map Name Preferences: Something relating to Halo and Tarturus (the Brute leader from Halo 2) Map Quality Named After: Last Halo 2 mission when you are fighting Tarturus. Map Name Meaning: Something "brute-like". Map Description: The arena from the final battle in Halo 2. Phreakie said Brute Captain for the gametype and The Crest for the map. I like it, but would like to have more choices.
The only thing about having the gametype called Brute Captain is that I'll be forced to invite The Yellow for testing. Oh you see what I did there... I think this thread should be stickied by the way. If we can keep this active, it will be a great resource for people to use.

I just thought of something. If you wouldn't want to use Brute Captain, you could use: The Demon like how they called you that in the game. It could be The Demon on Brute Hierarchy or The Demon on The Crest. I will continue to think of more.

I think I'll jum in this. I'm kind of a vocab nut... Lucidity - It pretty easy to understand, "there was lucidity in his explanation" One of it's definitions, "Mentally sound, sane or rational" is also the opposite of your name. Flexure - "The act of bending, being flexible" Pretty good with the whole curves thing. Kind of has that helix feel you seemed fond of. Askance - "with suspicion, mistrust, or disapproval" I don't know what you think, I'm not too sure of it. Oblique - Not my favorite but if you like it you can take it. Sidelong - Kind of the opposite of straight (not exactly circular, but whatever) plus your spectators will be "Sidelong" of the fighting. I don't, I kind of like this one. Cartilage - You should know what this means... Not really a pod, but it sounds good. Membrane - Again, you should know what this means. Surrounds something, kind of like pod does. Protective, like a pod. Octad Settle Sorry I don't have more, but I'll be back to finish it for you, and do other peoples. I have to go so, yeah...

Narcotic Inferno - Eh, I really couldn't think of much for this one Excitatory Synapse - A type of Synapse in the brain that allows for quick firing electrical impulses Axonal Lapse - An axon is the connector tube between neurons. Lapse just sounded good with it Municipality - A technical word for city Corporate - I liked how it sounds, though I don't know if it would fit your map. Domesticate - Not my favorite, but we all have different opinions. I can't think of any for this, plus you seem to like The Demon, so I think your set.
I think I'll use Amphitheater for my 1v1 map, but I'm still not getting the right kind of feel for the other map.
Nah. None of them, as _aj put it, That is pretty much what I need. All my other maps seem to fit pretty well: Hangar 02, Cave Freaks, Duel of teh Fates.
