Need help naming your map? Naming is an important part in map presentation. If a good map has a boring name, it may get overlooked thus losing publicity. A map needs to have a name that is attractive. This is the case with all products. Attractive names that grab people's attention will help get your map out there. It can be difficult to chose a name that is both fitting and attractive. This why this thread was created. This thread is dedicated on helping members ForgeHub. You can use this thread to get your fellow users to help name your maps, gametypes, or even your screenshots. Sure, Whisper. I was going to add that into my post, but I forgot. This tread is about helping people getting their maps named not about me naming them.
Or, you can be like all the other scene kids and look in the dictionary for a word that not many people have ever heard of! Oh, but wait! Make sure to add the defenition of the word as an intro to your post! It is all the rave!
Come on, guys. This thread is about helping people not using alternative methods. If you can get the name of your map on your own, fine, do so.
I suppose the scene kids probably do that too. Good thinking and that might help a poor soul that needs a name for a map.
Seriously, I stated what this thread is for. Stay on topic. If this continues, i will report your spam. Your post will be deleted and you will get infracted. STOP
You know what I've been wanting a cool map name, It flows well, convanant / human map type. So got any suggestions
Maybe you could describe the map a bit more? Any ideas of a type of name? May be something that rolls off the tongue (like the "flowy"). Is it covenant or human? I don't understand how it is both.
Well its going to be more human, but a little of covant structures. There's going to be a little gate in it, where there's still tons of ways to get in. It has some archs, and It's mainly a map thats lower to the ground so what do you got, I cant really think of anything that isn't takin (glad someones finally doing something like this)
Sheer (Just a straight up cool name. Easy to pronounce, simple meaning.) Homeland (Don't like this one much, but Human Homeland, idk) Tidal (Flow... waves... Tidal) Surreal (Another plain, cool name)
I like Tidal and Surreal. Good job, aj. I will see if I can think of something else. EDIT: Chamfer - (Archs) Circulation- (Flow)
Things to consider when naming your map 1) Ease of pronunciation. I like map names that are under three or four syllables, not those totally random monstrosities of words. When naming your map, try to picture to FH lurkers, who just hang around and DL maps they find, discussing your map, "Hey, have you seen that map _____ yet?". Or some buddies talking about their favorite maps, "You know what's a classic map? _____" Ex.) Good map name: "Hey, have you seen Metro yet?" Or, "You know what's a classic map? Metro." It rolls right of the tongue. Two syllables, and it's not a new word for most people. Nice. Ex.) Bad map name: "Hey, have you seen Recalcitrance yet?" Or, "You know what's a classic map? Recalcitrance." Not that it's a bad map or anything, it's just the name is kind of a mouthful and few people know what it means. 2) Substance. A map name should have some substance and hint at the map itself. Do you have any real reason for using the name you used? A very direct example is Purple Bunker. Something to do with purple and something to do with a bunker. A less direct but still good example is Sanghelios. I have no idea what that word means, but to me it sounded Asian and the map, with it's cramped ground level, odd angles, and diagonal supports made me feel like I was walking through Beijing. 3) Catchiness. Many great map names are practically fun to say. They are catchy and sound very nice. This is a bit of a gray area because I think Vertebraille sounds a little stuffy with so many consonants and I don't really like it, but you might love the way it sounds. However, I think most would agree that names such as Radius, Kentucky Tango, Castleanche, and Ire of Fire are more pleasing to the ear than Telmson, Murderotica, and Aperture. But, hey, it's opininated. Well, that's about it.
uhh couple i havent used and probably wont...ever. Passage- good conquest map name Aspect- Idk it just came up Frigid- Avalanche map? Streambed- Map with a river mehbeh? Black-a-vised- a real word that describes dark features. I hope those help
