Who else has been a little pissed that Bungie NEVER shows any NEW info about the Mythic Map Pack. It seems that they don't want us to know what we are going to get. Like sandbox, I want a confirmation or even pictures to see if this is the big forging map that we are all hoping for. And on these so called weekly updates, it's the same thing. It always talks about ODST and the SAME EXCACT INFO from last weeks, and then it talks about their daily lifes. Who Cares? I want info about Sandbox! Who else agrees that they need to start talking?:surprise:mg::surprise:mg:

I feel the same way. Even if they just show a pic a week from each map it would be cool. I honestly don't care about ODST at all, and I doubt I'll get it. I think they're trying to get people hyped about the new game, it's not really working for me though.

Well, they have been talking and showing pictures of the Mythic Maps. If I remember right, just the other week they were talking/showing pictures of Orbital & Assembly.

But Sandbox I can imagine is gonna be really good. Especially if they have to to keep it secret enough so no one even knows about. I don't know if it's gonna be like Far Cry's create a map editor thing, but from the looks of it, I'm assuming it's gonna be something big.

But I'm sure Bungie just wants to make it a surprise for all of us seeming that a lot of people really love forging. Just watch it be Foundry though on Sand, lol.

I don't know. I almost have a feeling that it won't be the map everyone thinks it will be. Sure it's called Sandbox, which sounds like it would be a blank slate forging map, but it could also be many other things. Of course I want it to be that forge heaven, but I have a bad feeling about this.

I like a surprise, but they should reveal a bit more info on the other maps, like some heatmaps and some more pics.

Maybe you think that, but its possible if they showed a pic and it looks like, lets say Last Resort, but the catch is that everything is deletable. I can see Bungie doing that.

I can see Sandbox being a small Guardian type map for small team/FFA based combat. They're just messing with our heads. D:

First off, Halo ODST is not a new game, it is a disk expansion for about $20 or somewhere around there, that will include all 6 maps that have been brought up. I would see little reason not to get it.

Second, I agree, it is annoying that we aren't finding anything out about sandbox. I want to know that if some of these map ideas I have are better off on hold, waiting for the "promise" of sandbox so I can make them closer to my original idea.

As for it not being forge, I can guarantee it is. The hints as to what it is suggests it, Bungie says they are listening to our forging cries, and I have a friend who I trust. But I also have logic. We are a spoiled community, and are constantly requesting new Halo 3 maps, and that will not stop until we have a new game. Well, if they are busy making maps, they cannot focus on a new game, so Bungie should look at a good Forge map like this; free labor. Us forgers will make maps that will keep everyone quiet, provided we have the tools too, and we work for free, so Bungie can go off and do other things.

Are Orbital and Assembly not coming out in march? Why would they include those in on the Disk.

Personally I think the Orbital and Assembly pictures are OK information, but we have known what assembly looks like for a long time. The orbital is kind of cool looking, but we also have a good idea now. So please give some sandbox information Bungie. PLZ?

They are, but (I should say) rumor is that they would be included on the disk as well. I say, why not? Even with a late 09 release, I bet plenty of people will still not have the Mythic DLC.

Most of the Bungie employees have been on holiday for the past 2 weeks, what do you expect?

Good shout that man. Perhaps some bigger news next week, fingers crossed.

Sandbox, if indeed a forging map, isn't going to break the mould. Bungie have repeatedly denied that they would make any significant changes to The Forge and I don't blame them. So what's left is the shape and contents of the map, the forge palette, item limits, overall budget and death barrier placement - all of which could be improved for our purposes, as long as it still runs smoothly.

I totally agree with what everyone above said... hopefully we will get something like a different, better looking color palette to use and a more open area with lots more items. I think asking for that would be fine.

I'm just hoping for two things they change, both definitely possible for bungie to do.

1: Fully interlocking/geomerging pieces. This would be a HUGE timesaver. They have done this type of stuff with doors, there's no reason they can't do it with things like boxes and walls and bridges. Instead of pounding away with forge glitches, you can set an object where you damn well want instantly.

    2. This I too believe is possible to do, maybe not as much as #1. But having forge pallet objects not have physics applied to them. So if you hold onto a box in mid air and let go. It STAYS there. If we had both of these features, top quality creations could be made in a fraction of the time (We're talking something like 1/4 here).

Both of the above are extemely unlikely, and could be considered as 'impossible' by Bungie.

In the SB last night, i thought of quite an interesting idea however. There have been many requests of interchangeable textures or colours for objects, but how about this. The style of many of the forging objects would be metallic, with a dull, silver or grey colour, somewhat like the ones on Avalanche.

You would be able to place colour filters, much like that in the Legendary DLC, but these would only slightly change the Hue.

There could be one each for red, blue and green, but each would only offer a 10-30% increate in that colour. These could be mixed and matched to change the tint on all of the items in Forge to any colour you wanted.

This wouldn't be a complete colour change, because that would look ugly and tacky. This would only add a soft tint to the objects. For example, you could place a few blue ones down and it would have a cold, icy tint, like many of the scenery on Avalanche. You could also place a few Green and Blue ones, to create a warm, yellow tint, like Collossus from H2.

What do you think of this idea?

The only issue i can see is making sure that changing the tint of the objects wouldn't change the tint of the players in the game.

Ahem. Matty, #1 HAS BEEN DONE BY BUNGIE. Just to a lesser entent. The outer rims of doors can interlock/geomerge. This can easily be extended to an entire object's being.
