Well, in light of the new geo method, i wanted to find a way to make it practical. So I have come up with the algorith for making double wall ramps up to box height. You can use this method on anything that is at that height but any stray from it higher or lower and this algorithm will NOT work.

First thing you need to know before the how to is that I am not explaining how the new geo("TearDrop Method") works. I am only showing you how it can be used. If you would like to learn what the "teardrop" method is and how to do it, follow this link: http://www.forgehub.com/forum/halo-forge-discussion/46688-geomerging-without-doors.html

    Here is my sketchup walkthrough:

Here is where the new geo method starts:

This last one is a compilation of all the previous walkthroughs put together to see the outcome:

Ok, now a few things. First this is the easiest and quickest way I can find to doing double wall ramps accurately. There may be better algorithms made in the future and this is by no means the end all. I did this to show people the new method can be usefull and a fair example of how to use it. You may still think after this that the old door way is better and it might be. However, I have personally used this algorithm 3 times in a row from scratch just to make sure it works and I'm 100% convinced.
Please try it for yourself and let me know what you think.

wow, thats pretty complex. try explaining the "new geomerge technique" to people that may not know about it.

EDIT: never mind, i read the beginning wrong.

This is the best way of making a tutorial that I've ever seen. It beats the youtube because I don't have to listen to someone talk about it, lol. Excellent job, sir.

Agreed. I actually have to do a few of these merges in the not too distant future. I'll be using what you have here. Great tutorial!

Pretty complicated i think the regular method is easier well at least the method I'm using!

It just looks complex. The reality is all your doing with all the walls is getting your distances for the dbl wall ramp to be lined up with. Once you actually go through and forge it, you'll see how quick it is. I can do perfect dbl wall ramps using this method in less than 5 minutes now.
Like I said before, if it doesn't work for you, then it doesn't. Just wanted to show that the new geo can be very usefull if you know how to use it.

Oh wow. To be honest, I didn't think it would be as precise as it is but damn! It works like a charm. Excellent work Deathstars!

I just did it in place of a geomerged double box ramp on a small asym. map I'm working on. It's an extremely clean way to do such a merge; there's no skip at all going up or going down toward the seam. Plus, your tutorial was excellent and much better than a Youtube one would be, as Squid said. I think you've set the benchmark for Forge technique tutorials, and if you ever make any more please post them here!

Awesome find. That is probably the best tuorial I've ever seen in my life. :D

I wanna see if I can make some mystical algorithms for racetracks. That would be sick.
