    Regicide
    Created by: Fritzster

    Recommended Players: 8
Recommended Gametypes: MLG Team Slayer, MLG Oddball, MLG KOTH

From its conception in sketch-up, Regicide has been one of the most anticipated MLG maps of 2008. Fritzster breathes new life into MLG, by leaving the familiar 2-base symmetrical layout for a far more complex design. Regicide is an asymmetrical, abstract work of art that plays like a masterpiece. The map consists of four main areas: Sniper tower, OS room, Red base, and Blue base. These four unique structures are connected with ramps and catwalks that cut through the air aggressively. The combination of solid structures and weightless walkways create some unique shooting angles, cover, and tactical jumps.

Creating a map within budget that looks great is an accomplishment few can claim. However, Fritzster raises the bar by creating an asymmetrical playground that is awe-inspiring and yields non-linear gameplay that is shockingly balanced. As you play multiple games on this, you will realize and assuredly welcome its refreshing nature. Each battle plays out like a beautiful symphony that is never redundant. Regicide is a testament to careful planning, painstaking building, and grueling testing. Regicide is currently being considered for use in the next MLG season. As a result, the MLG community, has become more accepting of visionary map designs for competitive play.

I've got to play this before it was featured. I must say it's truly one of the best MLG maps I've seen EVER. Great job on the map Fritz. and grats on the feature.

I'm not too fond of MLG maps that have jumping. I'm playing competitively I DON'T want to feel like Mario. Now, while you can't judge gameplay by pictures I can tell that it has A LOT of jumps and I'm not into that. from the pictures, aesthetics seem average, nothing out of the ordinary or anything that really stands out but has solid interlocking and geomerging.

EDIT: I find it odd Kon-artist liked the map his mlg maps don't force you to jump constantly so I would assume he perfers those types of maps; like me.

This map does not force you to jump anywhere. Sure there are a couple tactical jumps, but the flow is much smoother than the pictures dictate. Everywhere you want to go has a ramp or staircase. You'll have to take my word for it until you DL and see for yourself. Its truly one of the best MLG maps to come around in a long time.

No mongooses, its an MLG map.

Congratz on 2009's first feature :)

The map looks amazing, and some of the geomerges are just phenominal. Its a very simple design, and people might start complaining but I believe this map is perfect. Great job!

I understand you were trying to be witty with your reference to Mario but I sincerely doubt you could mistake yourself for playing when you're playing Halo. Competitive maps aren't suppose to be tailor made to your specific playing style.
Aside from that, there are several ways to acess higher ground. But there are also spots were you must jump. This is why these spots are called jump-ups.
What do you mean by aesthetics? Do you want a giant spider hovering over this? Would that make you love it? The aesthetic qualities of MLG maps are within the design. Aesthetics mean jack. Sure you want things to be merged and interlocked but "just because you can". But because it prevents grenade loss and overall increases the gaming experience of the map.
    okay, I'm done with that.

I got to play it the other day, I love it. Definately one of my favourite MLG maps. The map plays and flows like a dream and connects together so well.

To be totally honest, even after playing this, I did not think it would be featured, but I don't have a featured map, so what do I know. Good job, take that people who think that Staff and High Ranking members are the only ones that get features (wooh, what a mouthfull lol)
    Great Job, Love the Originality

I have played this map a lot and I really hope it gets into the 09 Circuit. The spawns are smooth and gameplay is very consistent. I really liked Oddball on it (Although my friends did not even when they were on my team). MLG needs an asymmetrical Foundry map in my opinion.

Well, I haven't got around to playing this map. Mainly because I'm not to fond of MLG. I do have one qualm with Fritz howerever, why did you have to use the name Regicide? I was totally going to use as the title of a King of the Hill geared map. I means Regicide mean killing the king! That means Koth!

    *takes a deep breath*
I'm sorry, I just really wanted to use it as a title is all. Congratz on the feature, keep on forging because everyone seems to appriciate what you do.

Why did you rate this map not your style if you havn't even played it. Cant really form an opinion from pictures.

I Love this map its the most unique MLG map i have ever seen i really hope this gets added in because it doesnt feel like onslaught or amplified yet it plays perfectly. Even for people not interesting in MLG this map is a welcome departure from what people call a MLG map.

I have to say, grand (never used that word before...lol) job on making this map live up to its true potential. I see many good games in the future, in addition to the ones I have already enjoyed so much already.
Although there are a few problems here and there, such as some bumps, major and minor, but thats okay, doesn't stop the flow too much.

Great job, and happy new year all!

In his post, he said (or meant to say, but had a typo) that MLG wasn't his thing really... so its really not his style. fair enough, to each his own

I agree i just think if he had actually played a game on it then he could form a full opinion and not just a quick decision based on it being MLG. But indeed each their own. I was just really impressed by this map and don't really see it as a MLG map as it is so different then previous ones.

    MLG has finally leveled up.
Gone is the year of symmetry in MLG...

Time to bring maps like Regicide into the light.

Oh ya lol it is the 1st featured map of 2009! Great job on both the map and the feature. From the very beginning of the map post, I was 100% sure that this would get featured.

There are a sufficient amount of cover and ramps which means this map promises very interesting gameplay along with all those great structures. You did a very nice job on interlocking and merging those walls that you stuck to the corner. I have only played 1v1 on this but it's still an amazing map.

Good luck in getting this on the circuit.

I got randomly invited into a game on this map before this was posted.
I was smitten by Matty many times (yes there was a sniper)

I have to say, the flow of this map is absolutely phenominal. There's not one section of the map where you have to jump to (or a least very few places) and the gameplay is imense. Yes, it may not look like a highly competitive map because the vast difference in height in some places, but beleive me, it is. Every corner is full with suprises.

To agree with some of the above posts, this map is incredibly smooth for the layout of it. Every interlock and geo-merge has been done precisely and in my opinion it payed off. The end product was fantastic Fritzer, great job.

This looks like a great map. One of the best MLG I've seen. I can't believe you use sketchup for map concepts! I do, too! Anyways back to the point. There is very smooth interlocking and the gameplay looks really unique. I'd prefer a few more pictures, but I'll get as many as I want when I DL. Maps are just getting better and better. Keep up the good work!
