Anyone have it? Is it worth upgrading to?

Having upgraded from CS to CS2 a few years ago, it seems Adobe is only really updating its filters in new versions of the software. I wouldn't worry about upgrading.

    I couldn't agree more.

The only updates I've noticed in the past when I've updated are with the filters.

    What are ya'll talking about?

I hate when kids think they're like elite **** you know because they've got the whole "OH YEAH MY PS IS UPDATED TO 4 MUTHA FUKS"

Theres no difference, I think they also fixed and revised something with warp. But hell would I know? I still only own CS2. Don't upgrade unless theres like something major features you know on the site update.

I have to disagree with you. From what I read in this review: Adobe CS4 Photoshop and Illustrator Review (Verdict: Kick Ass) they've streamlined it a lot, as well as added a whole bunch of new features.
Also, let's just say that cost is no option for me, so the only things that matter are the time it would take for me to install it and update it, and whether it is worth that time.

CS4 is a massive update. 3d-objects and coloring, smart transforming, it is the coolest program I have ever used. I wish I had it, I'm stuck on CS2.

I have it. It's really nice but the changes from CS3 to CS4 are very small from what I've seen. It looks a bit nicer though.

But yeah 3D is a lot better.

Looks a lot sexier, there's a few tweaks to how some of the filters work, and how mask's work. Which cut down task's to smaller time scales. But if your a fluent user of Cs3 or below. There is no need to upgrade.

Hell, do whatever you want. I don't see much point in this thread if you pretty much had your mind set on updating in the first place.

Maybe there are some new features that are useful, but I've survived with CS1 and CS2 thus far. There's no reason to update. You can do everything in CS2 that you can do in CS4 if you're skilled enough.

Yes it is. You can make anything in Microsoft Paint that you can make in Photoshop if you're a skilled pixel artist.

You can do anything in CS2 that you can do in CS4 because you're working with a 2D canvas.

Well, yes. Outcomes sure. But the methodology is much different, and the features in CS4 supposedly make things much easier.

I'm sure they're designed to make things much easier for novices, but the fact of the matter is that an expert in Photoshop can make just about anything easily.

Yes, but if you have the tools to do something in 15 minutes, why would you do it in 3 hours?

Because in most scenarios I would be making a graphic for a customer, not for myself.

Photoshop is my hobby, and I don't work to get something done as quickly as possible. I try out new concepts and designs while making the simplest of things, just to see how they look.

Plus, I make more money working longer. For my purposes, it's not worth the money to update.

If you get paid by the hour by a customer who wants a graphic done, then that customer is an idiot.
