Radius Created by squidhands Gametypes Supported: Greenhouse 1v1, (MLG) Oddball, (MLG) KOTH, Multi Flag, Slayer and Neutral Bomb Recommended Players: (2-6) Radius is a small symmetrical arena map. While utilizing a very simple design, Radius still manages to create an incredibly unique and exciting gameplay experience to be enjoyed with small parties. The entire map is designed as a large circular arena; the edge of the arena is raised up, along with a small central structure within the arena. There are small walls covering different sections of the second floor ring on the border of the map, this brings a lot of the action up to their. Yellow and red bases sit on opposite ends of the ring, expanding it slightly outward on the top. Signs in the bases provide cover for base defenders, but still do so without allowing camping to become a very effective tactic. The overall design creates a feel that is much like a mini circular version of Foundation, and is something any fans of that map will really appreciate. This map is designed for very small parties. 1v1 works well, especially if you're playing with the 1v1 version of the map and Zanno's Greenhouse 1v1 game variant. You can also play with up to six players and still enjoy a very competitive experience. The map's main modes are Oddball and King of the Hill, especially the MLG versions (you need 4-6 players for these two modes). I kinda anticipated this getting fetured. It's a pretty well made map. It's set up pretty well for it's gametypes. It's a pretty simple layout, but hell; some of the best maps ever had simple layouts. Congrats Squid.
nice map i like the use of all of the items and i like how you did the middle of the map nice one Squidhands
Yes, another for the ghosts! I must way this one is very well deserved, the gameplay is great and it gives me a nostalgic feeling the likes of Guardian. Layout can be simple, but intricate where it counts most. Great write-up, and congratz squiddy!
When i first saw this map i wasnt sure about it. I downloaded it anyway because it looked promising and it was worth it. Its fun and the merging is perfect. King of the hill is my favorite.
i do like this map and with the new rivisions and break proofness i think it is matchmaking worthy and your welcome for finding that old break
Nice Squid hands! I loved this for 1 vs 1 and it was on my hardrive from the minute I saw the first pic. The dezign is great and your interlocking was flawless! This is a great map and I can kick Wasnies butt on it later... I hope
Gratz squid, can you guys put a hyperlink to his profile for his name? I think most of the other features have this.
Thanks for all the positive comments, guys. I'd still love to see some gameplay footage from anyone who wants to post some. My ultimate goal is to get this into the Team Doubles hopper for the ATLAS submissions, and I want to make sure I've covered all my bases. Yes, thank you for pointing that out. I believe it's much harder to accomplish that jump now. Not working for me either. Hmm. This one does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PjBxcnqiKc
This map has very nice interlocking and aesthetics. It has great gameplay and is fun to play on, however, you can easily get out of the map, and the two interlocked man cannons don't do the same thing on both sides of the map. I'm not sure what their purpose is, but you should probably fix that and please make it unbreakable. 7/10
Show you how to break it? Jump on top of the fusion coils on top of the center structure, jump in the air, shoot the coils and you can get on top of the fence walls suspended over the open boxes. From there you can grenade jump to the perimeter walls, or just jump to the crane merged with them.
Interesting, I never would have thought of that. Seems like it would be a pretty difficult task to accomplish ingame, especially with an Oddball. That is my main concern, being able to escape the map with an Oddball in hand to cheat your way to victory. If you think it's something that could easily be pulled off in a Slayer game to hold onto a team lead then I'll proceed further with generating a fix.
In slayer gametypes, you would be able to have the higher ground advantage, as it is easy to maneuver around the top of the perimeter wall, and even if you are taking fire, you can drop down behind the double walls and then hop back up on top rather easily.
I may run some more games soon and ask opponents to try and break out. In all the testing games I did, no one ever tied to get out. That may just be the luck of having good people to play with, but I know that the matchmaking crowd aren't always like that. If you're able to get a game in, I'd appreciate you trying it also and making a gamevee vid of it or post it in your fileshare for me to look at. Thanks for your input, man.
I got out of the older version pretty quickly, but you said you fixed that. I think it was off of one of the barriers than out. lmao nevermind, that was something else..but yeah one of the barriers standing up
