The Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread

Ruins is so much fun to me. I love close combat, and sniping in that level is a challenge and then some. My friends and i are at level 30 on ruins, where we left because we lagged out. Horde's really fun on that level; there is so much action and no camping involved.

 

i like either river or security the best. i love the layout of river.
and im pretty sure that you have to camp if you want to beat horde. me and my friend just beat it on security, we got to 40 on normal then had to switch to casual to finish it.

 

What would you all say is the best map for horde? I've had good experiences with River, but I'm sure there is an even better map.

 

River is good, but sweeny keeps getting chainsawed lol. I like jacinto as well.

 

I havent played any multiplayer yet.... I have been focused on Campaign, which Id be done with if I hadnt had to go with my family, by force btw, to see Madagascar...

is it really better than GOW1?

 

OK, guys I just beat Act 4, and we got in this APC, then we were leik: ''Woah, Jack, bish be flying over us, then go in the car like R2D2. ****, this pwns''.

I beat the campaign just obver 45 minutes ago, on Hardcore.
Generally I loved it, but some parts were just plain frustrating.

Is it just me though, or is the music a lot more mellow this time around?

As for this being better than the first, I played the first once before, and so far I like this better (I have played it for the same length). The first one, everyone was able to flash their experience on LIVE because the learning curve was so steep, resulting in godlike pwnage over noobs (me). This game, however still steep, I have been able to get decent at it in the course of a day on LIVE.

There are some issues that could be fixed in a patch. First off, in co-op campaign, I often found myself sliding to cover, to then have seizure where I end up flying over all cover right into the face of the enemies.
Also, the Lancer Chainsaw is to strong. I understand they had to increase it's power some way since you can now start with the Hammerburst (a stronger gun), but this is ridiculous. I shotgun *****, and most of my kills are from the 1, 2 punch (melee then shoot) but as soon as I melee a Lancer wielding player, I get stuck in the chainsaw animation. Also, they will rush at me with the saw ready to buzz, and I will shoot witht he shotgun, but the chainsaw never lowers at times. Some are glitches, others are just to much power, but something should be fixed.

There are other minor glitches, but other than that, I have no issue. People complain now (maybe if I played GOW1 more, I would too) but that is only expected with sequels. In time, people will get used to different mechanics in gameplay, such as getting knocked down by a smoke, or the harder to wield shotgun.

Well, me, chrst, and another friend of mine made it to lvl 30 on horde, then we just got ****ed on security cause someone opened the laser fences, and we got rushed by several maulers and boomers =/

 

When you guys say lvl 15 and lvl 30 on horde, which difficulty are you playing on.

 

Security is only goof for horde because it's the easiest. I joined my friends game on level 44 and finished it up with them and we didn't fail once. We had like 3 snipers in the lazer area, a minigun, and a retard doing whatever he wanted lol. The same group got to level 30 on ruins before we lagged out, I hought that was the best.

Anyone wanna play in like an hour?

i noticed the changes to the weapons, and i think theyre all fantastic changes. Gears 1 was so boring and repetative for multiplayer. everyone gets the shotgun, they wildly shoot until the mechanics finally connect, and someone dies. This game actually requires you to use the right weapon for the moment. I've noticed tiny glitches that effect nothing, so overall, this is possibly one of the BEST games ive bought, ever.

 

Well id like to get a horde group together on Security im so tired of my team members not listening and leaving the safety of the laser grid only to die a few seconds later.

GOW2 had stat tracking?... nice.. it seems my K/D is 5.77....
