Game Guide: Top Games of the Season [SPOILERS] Winter Game Guide By: Frag Man (Note: Other games added to the guide will not be listed on the main post. I have run out of room for images, [20 images for post] and will edit my other posts, or add another post to add the game requested by the community.) Ladies and gentlemen, this is by far the best season of games that have ever come out. I have never seen such a wonderful breed of games come out before. So now I give the Game Guide to help you decide what to get this Winter Season. Here I'll review GoW 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, and Tom Clancy's EndWar. Sorry, no FarCry 2. I heard the gameplay sucked, so I didn't bother reviewing. I'm not going to review Fable 2 either. I don't have enough information. Most of the information is from GamePro issues, but I won't give all of it away. ______________________________ Gears of War 2 TPS Gears of War 2 is basically a repeat of its first, with added juice. If you loved the first one, you'll die for this one. Con(s) would be the campaign. The campaign wasn't as epic, and there are a couple of loose spots in the story-line. Some of the scenarios didn't deliver the bang either. The pro(s) in Gears of War 2 would be its multiplayer, gameplay, graphics, and smooth controls. The controls are easier, and smoother with shooting. Multiplayer was definitely not a let down. It plays well like the first game, and raised the party limit, allowed you to crawl when downed, more versions of the curb stomp (Face pop, shooting scene), and it’s added amazing maps. The developers had stuck to the standard gothic graphic designing they had the previous game. Adding more detail to the game itself. The campaign also has several more Locust Horde characters in it. Unfortunately, I don’t think you can be the Boomer still. Several more weapons are added. A Flamethrower, Mortar Launcher, Mulcher (turret), and a Gorgon Burst Pistol are all added to the game. All of these are usable in the multiplayer too. The Mortar Launcher is guaranteed to put the Hammer of Dawn out of business. New characters will be available in the game too. If you were to chose between Call of Duty, and this game. Go with GoW 2. The game as a whole is much better. Rating: 5/5 ___________________________ Dead Space TPS This year’s horror game is Dead Space. Dead Space is just a single player campaign where you play as Isaac Clarke who is an engineer who has crash landed on USG Ishimura. A mining vessel that has been invaded by an infectious alien called Necromorph. They are a virus that needs a host to survive. After finding humans to host on, they enter the body and start deforming for its suitability. Isaac, equipped with a special armor (The Rig), has to survive among this ship and try to find a way to escape. In the game you’ll have massive amounts of enemies to kill, and a huge variety of them. You’ll have many weapons to help you survive the game, all with a unique ability to them. Among them there is the Laser Cannon. This is the strongest weapon in there, and will usually take out any enemy in one shot. You can encounter blueprints to make new weapons used for mining. You’ll also encounter an anti-gravity zone where you’ll have limited oxygen, but unlimited movement. When you are in the anti-gravity zone, you’ll be able to walk on walls, ceilings, and leap across wide gaps. When you are in an anti-gravity room you’ll also encounter several puzzles. But wait! There’s more! Epic boss battles, mini-games, and a shooting gallery. You’ll have to try these out when you get the game. This game automatically outdoes any horror game out there. If it's a horror game, then this is what you want. Rating: 5/5 __________________________________ Fallout 3 TPS/FPS, RPG This is the game to get. Think of it as Oblivion with guns. You’ll start out as a character in game that leads up to full customizability. The game changes every time you make a different choice. You can also make people you meet along the game angry, sad, or happy. Depending on what they think of you the story will change. The environment around you is huge. It gives a complete 180 to the famous saying “Small World.” This game is incredibly addicting, and will give you more than what you want. The game does not lack in graphics either. There is a wide variety of monsters, and each one looks different than the other. You’ll also get a VATS (Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System) that will allow a slow motion gory scene. When you reach the requirements to activate it, tap a button to pause the combat, queue up shots on the place you want to shoot, and tap another button to play the slow motion seen. You’ll also get partners to assist you in the campaign, or people to escort for missions. This game is more than just the hype. It’s better. Rating: 5/5 ____________________________ Tom Clancy’s EndWar TPS, RTS (Thanks Tex) (Sorry, no images of the gameplay) If you can’t wait for the next Call of Duty, then get this game. Like the rest of the games reviewed, the graphics are amazing. This game is a strategic variant of Call of Duty, and will allow you to control you teammates. The story is about how the world will eventually go crazy over shortages of oil, and more power to control other countries. In other words, it’s all about WWIII. Nothing much unique, but it will keep you from biting your nails for the next Call of Duty. This game would best suite your needs for strategy games. Don't go with any other strategy game without considering this one. Rating: 4/5 _______________ Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Requested by ForgeHub member) RPG When it comes to fun role playing games, this is the game to get. The game takes a new role, and rather then it mainly focusing on the characters, it's mostly vehicle based. In the game you'll be able to create vehicles that will help cross several gaps, finish races, or reach new heights. The game also has great visuals. The storyline continues right after the last game. After Banjo-Kazooie are in peace, a mysterious figure known as LOG (Lord of Games) appears, and starts sending the heroes on a several missions to different worlds. The game is never serious, but always fun. You'll usually end up with spare time to have fun with the environment around. While it focuses around vehicles, it will probably lose some fans of the game, but bring others. You'll be able to fully customize you vehicle to your liking. You can even take them out to races. Upgrade them like no other, and see if yours bests your opponents. The story-line itself is great, but to speak of it here and now would spoil the game. You'll be kept on the edge of your seat as you listen to the hilarious cast as they try to work things out. The cons in this game would be the repetitive gamplay, and the *shizang* multiplayer. Rating: 4/5
how did you play gears 2 already? are these other reviews? and fallout is far from oblivion with guns, but i guess you could make that analogy
Definitely GoW 2. CoD5 just takes place during WWII again. Beta's always have missing gameplay, and it's better just to wait for the real game.
Nice guide you made there but you forgot to review CoD:WaW which is one of the games of the season, and it plays in different aspects of WW2 rather than the same old D-day missions and stuff which i think could make or break the game. Fable 2 is definitely a must buy imo just because of the amount of freedom that you get just throwing that out there guys. Also, if you say that Gears lacks alot in single player then why rate it a 5/5? If it isn't what it should be it should be than 5.
All of your reviews are 5/5's. This isn't all that helpful, unless you had no idea what any of these games were, ever =/ Also, needs more Banjo.
Actually, if you want to be specific, it's a RTT as there is no base. Also, you got lazy at End War, didn't you.
Fine. I'll review Banjo. But the ratings are deserved. Yes, yes I did. I actually couldn't find gameplay pictures for it.
I've actually seen a handful of people playing Gears 2 on my brother's friends list.. dunno how. This secret is a must cause I'd do badddd things for that game early.
I leave out information on purpose. The great "god" Letalis is probably a fake. Fine, but the reviews won't be as long. Plus, I can only upload 20 images to a post.
Mirror's Edge? cmon man. Thats like a amazing rite there. It seems like you just summed up a review from another website.
Yes, it's a first person shooter, and a third person shooter. I forgot to mention RPG. You are able to change the settings to TPS/FPS with a tap of a button. I got it from playing thank you. Mirror's edge isn't coming out until next season, not this winter. From what I heard. No, I did not get all this from a website.
