ok, I don't know where to put this, because there isn't really a forums for it, so I'm posting it here. Move if you deem is necessary :monitor:

So, I'm having a problem with my Xbox's disc tray. It won't open when it is in the verticle (up-down) position. But when I move it horizontally (on its side) it opens fine. Has anyone ever else had this problem and how do I solve this? I checked on Xbox Support and there was only something for it being jammed, and a simple fix to get your disc out, but it never opens for me vertically.

I tried and I had the same problem, so I lay it down so I have no problems.

I have that problem alot, but alot fo the time i can just flick it and it opens. If that doesn't work, all I can say is lay it down.

Try what Zach did. My friend has to do that every now and then to his xbox.

I'll try zach's option, but I already did something like that before. I'm calling 1-800-4my-Xbox, so Ishould have it solved soon.

It's actually better to have your Xbox 360 on it's side.
Errors happen less for some reason. Maybe it's because the disk is how it's meant to be.
    Sideways!

    =)

But, if you lay it down you run a greater risk of it over heating. The heat of it will go downwards and won't circulate well. I wouldn't send your xbox in for something that minor unless it bugs the crap out of you. It probably has gotten knocked at an angle and is getting caught on something inside the xbox. If you do lay it down, it should be fine, although I recommend placing it on some sort of grated shelf or in a place where it can circulate easily.

Sadly though, all we have is weak shelves (I mean, they can't hold up paper :frustrated:) and wood shelves. so, IDK>i'll get another intercooler and lay it down I guess.

My friend tried punching it, but as you can imagine that didn't work out too well :D

All I can say is to just put it on its side. It's not a big deal really, unless you don't have any space.

EDIT: I don't think that a new intercooler is gonna help much. Something is probably jammed.

I don't actually have any space. I would have to put my original Xbox on ITS side to play with my 360 horiszonal... just imagine... playing Vertical Original Xbox

Why not just get rid of the original Xbox? Its day has passed. Put it away.

Not if I want to wreck my console/disc.
Never move the Xbox with a disc in it, or while running.

Ah, yes multiple people have problems with their disk drive. Usually a piece is out of place, or bent. It's really easy to fix, but I would have to know more about the problem.

Are your disks coming out scratched when you open your disk drive?
