[v1.0] For ages the covenant have slaved to erect this magnificent multi-leveled arena, now at last it is unleashed!

Eternity is a fully symmetrical Free-4-all map designed for 2-8 players; anymore players make it way too overcrowded. You should note that while Eternity does support all gametypes, Team based games are not recommended. For one thing, there are no truly defendable areas on the map, so objective games go too fast and furious for any kind of tactics. There are also no clearly defined (team) sides to the map. Regardless of this Free-4-all plays kind of like a lucid dream- an excellent map for Slayer.

I originally began this map as a follow-up to Monument- but with several changes. For one thing, Eternity is a pure Free-4-all map. Rather than create different defendable locations on the map, I focused on the “flow” of combat, making it nearly impossible to become cornered- you’ll always have at least three different routes to take.
Second, I tried VERY hard to make this map difficult and impractical to escape. When seeking inspiration for the layout, I found myself looking at BL00DF1R3’s Construction as well as my own map, Monument.

Structurally, the map has three main floors or levels and connects via many different paths. When on the first floor you can take the ramp up to the second floor or the air vents to reach the top floor. Similarly the top two floors have direct access to the other two levels as well. Its easy to lose a tailing player but also very easy to run into another. Campers will be sorely disappointed to find there are no spots to hole up in.
The Air vent chutes were my idea and manage to add a highly aesthetic touch to the overall appearance. I followed-up by tilting the boxes on top of the chute so that players fly out properly. Oddly enough, the map didn’t really come together until I added the middle ledges where the battle rifles spawn at.

As always, I have a diagram map to go along with this forum. Hopefully this outline helps in determining the layout of the arena:

The teleporters on the map were a last minute touch to create a more seamless gameplay experience. I really wanted to maintain the flow of combat, and the teleporters helped to intensify the feel of gameplay. Oddly enough, the teleporters are rarely overused when compared with the map’s other features. They work mostly as a form to preserve the “flow” of combat

The gravity hammer spawns at 180 seconds, so its not terribly overpowered but it still maintains a certain presence that makes it enviable in FFA matches. No doubt players will be risking their hides to obtain the weapon when the match starts out.

When I finally finished the top platform of the arena, I was left with two very empty fence boxes. Rather than fill them with pointless fusion coils, I instead put a truck in each fence box to create an aesthetic feel of an exhibit. Whether this adds to the overall beauty of the map, I leave up to you to decide. Just don’t spend to long observing them or you’re sure to be killed!

When the map comes together it manages to create a very hectic and frenzied combat experience that quickly becomes addictive when through the map. With bodies piling up like toxic waste, you’ll never find yourself wanting for action!

Any comments you could leave would be very appreciated, but I would ask that you at least rate the ForgeHub map forum before leaving. Thank you very much and happy fragging!

UPDATE: New Pictures! The following are in game pictures taken from two different games. I would like to thank Werem1dget, IHOP 13, Lil Pef, DeAtHmOnKeY13X, and snow94 for their participation in the games these pictures were taken from.

Looks like a really nice map. I like how instead of putting fusion coils in the boxes you put trucks. I believe it does add a more aesthetic feel.
I like the lift elevators as well, those are always cool to me.
4.7/5 Nice map, a for sure DL.

ehh it looks alright, from the pictures, the map looks a little small and I think that you could change the gravity hammer spawn time an adjustment. probably should make it around 120 because of the size of your map it wont hurt. I will download it but the map doesnt really stick out to me.

This looks like an incredible map, especially for FFA =). I love the multi leveled layout and the smooth interlocking. The great aesthetics and skilled weapon placement are also very nice. I like everything about this map. A definite DL and possibly a feature? Great job, keep on forging!

Duly noted- I may have to look into this issue. Thank you for the thorogh analysis (even if it was hard to read).

No, it is a regular Competitive map. I would not be opposed to entering this map in a contest, but I've not really been looking around for one to enter into. If you have a suggestion for a contest you think I should enter, please reply or PM me.

First off, the map is supposed to be small- its made for 2-8 player FFA matches.

It seems every times I release a map I get tons of people compliment my Floorplan pictures, and some even ask me how to make one. Well, I'm very patient and make mine in Microsoft Paint- its very time consuming.

BTW- I eventually plan to post some action shots of the map, but have not yet had the time or freedom to do so.

wow, is really all i have to say, this is cone of the few good arena's, two floors. i like that. the map seems like it can be used for various team co=operative games such as team slayer, multi flag, multi bomb assault and perhaps team KOTH. the interlocking seems very smooth, no weird ripples anywhere, i think i see some geomerging too, overall wonderful job! 5/5

Just played, THIS MAP IS AWESOME! I really like the layout and how you used EVERY immovable object in foundry. I love it! The interlocking is great.

    PROS:
Map has many hiding places but not too much so that it's overcrowed. Good Interlocking. Plays well.
    CONS:
Some places are bumpy and the soccerball trap go annoying, I was stuck in an endless loop and had to start a new round for it to stop.
OVERALL: Very well made map 4.5/5.
    Keep on posting!

Soccorball trap?? Are you sure you're on the right map because there is not a soccorball on this map. Furthermore, there really aren't any hiding places either.

How could your friends and you always play on this map I only just released it yesterday? I haven't had it on my fileshare or anything. Unless you or one of your friends were in one of the few testing games I hosted and managd to download it, I simply don't see how you could have been playing on this amp prior to its release.

I've never had a map featured yet, but hey- I can dream can't I? Still, I don't know how possible a feature is or even the process it takes for a map to be recommended for such an honor.

Still, thank you for your comments

Actually no, there is no geomerging on this map. I'm afraid I only just learned how to geomerge and by then the map had been made. I anticipate using merging on my next map, but no idea when I'll get around to forging again.

Unfortunately the map isn't really that good for objective gametypes- too small and no defendable areas. If I had decided to remove the teleporters it might have had such potentially, but FFA gametypes were always the focus of this map.

Yes, If you played the map BEFORE POSTING, you would have seen the socor ball trap, and what I ment by hiding places is that there are many floors and hallways that intertwine, thats what I meant.
