The only speculation I have on this is that it's in the middle of Halo 2 and Halo 3 (from the looks of the video) and that it is the unreleased level of the fight between the brutes/elites/humans in New Mombasa. It's one of the levels Bungie had planned on releasing until the beginning plot of Halo 3 was leaked. I'm not so sure about it continuing where Cheif goes into the Cyrochamber, but more so how Cheif makes his way to the drop in the Jungle and meets up with Sarge. Although most likely I'm wrong.
No offense, but I believe you are. It couldn't have taken place between Halo 2 and 3. The city in the video is New Mombassa, and this was taken is around the time when the Prophet of Regret's shop does a slipspace jump in the middle of the city (This was in the first few levels on Halo 2). This destroyed the city, and everything around it. That is what the EMP blast was. It wasn't the drop pods hitting the ground, because the are too small to make such a big bang. Also, in the distance on the right hand side, you can see the Prophet of Regret's ship slowly flying to where the EMP blast resonates from.
Well, from the signs of the city saying New Mombasa, it's hard to say that Earth is the planet Cheif is hovering above in space.
its not earth. there are theories of it being the dyson sphere from the book: Ghosts of Onyx. its probably like an expasion thing with new campaign cuz the file would be to big to dload it on xbl. knida like comand and conquer 3 did, and they did it with the 360 too. u go buy a new versoin of halo 3 at the store for like 20-30 $ and it only works with a save file of the original halo 3 on ur xbox, like C&C3:Kanes wrath.
Like I said, and Blue said, and you would too know if you played Halo 2 (surprises me how few actually have..) The Prophet of Regret jumps to superspace and it levels the city. Right before that happens, Miranda Keys picks you up, and you (with some Marines) follow them in the superspace jump trailer, and both parties end up at the 2nd discovered Halo ring. Chief is no longer near Earth, but the fight there continues. Right after that, a bunch of ODST pods drop into the city (as indicated by the video), and ends. Meaning, whatever this is for, takes place during the story of Halo 2, meaning you cannot possibly be playing as either the Chief or Arbiter. That makes me think that this is the new game Bungie is working on, where you play Marines (ODST in particular) in a third person, cover based game that was rumored a couple months ago from a reliable source. Though 1/06/09 is far to soon for Bungie to already have a game done, unless they rush it, so it may be a campaign expansion where you play as marines? Though I doubt it.
I think it'll be something like and XBLA game. People are assuming you play as an ODST but none of the marines in H3's campaign are that detailed, or certainly not as much as Master Chief, Elites and Spartan's. To just add it on to the campaign would be rather tricky, it would be like playing a different game, wouldn't it? Different rules would apply, like you wouldn't be able to just jump on to a box, you'd need to climb on to it. But this is Bungie we're talking about, they won't disappoint. Just an unlikely idea, the new Xbox update will have probably been released by the time this game is released. Wouldn't it be great if you could use your avatar as a character in this new Halo game!
when i loaded up halo yesterday, a popup came up and told me about the video being released in the marketplace. i took little care about this since i already saw it, but something struck me as odd... "You can download a new trailer for the new game we've been working on" or something to that effect. They basically said "this is a new game". However, this is in direct conflict with the halo 3 logo at the end... thoughts?
This is a perfect chance for me to say "I Love Bungie".Whatever the suprise is it looks amazing. An add-on campaign to Halo 3 in Halo 2?I don't really see that possible,but then the question is why Halo 3 at the end,and why it should prepare to drop. But if everythign was destroyed in the city and theres one ODST guy left like srsly WTF is he going to do?Just walk around?Who knows at this point. Oo and it can't include chief because chief left it with Miranda , but we don't know what happens between that time period. I just seriously hope ,if it is a new game,its not 3rd person and they make the ODST guy similar to chief so he won't be as weak as he is pictured in the chief's eyes.

Bungie is cunfizzleding, but thats why we love them. And I bet it is like a toally different But Similar Game like an Expansion pack.
I hate it how bungie just randomly throws in a teaser without giving us any information about it! grrrr Mabye its master chief having a flashback or something, i dont know?
i personally love the clues and trailers and especially the code transmissions. its much more hands on than most studios.
Doesn't anybody read posts before they post? I'm relaying information from the B.Net forum to here, and people are still wondering why Bungie did that and what it means. This video took place in Halo 2, well before MC was frozen again while in the ship. He also wouldn't dream of rebooting, and having the SI everywhere. The SI is the artificial Intelligence that what we believe ran New Mombasa, and when the slipspace jump happened the SI went offline and it got damaged. He rebooted, and is now under a state of what we believe is shock.
Yeah same here.No other game maker does this ,Bungie is the only one that stays so in touch with their community. Yeah like a parrot basically.Hes just repeating everything that was ever transmitted. But so far its pretty clear that this new whatever it is will not inclide the MC as the main character or a character at all.
