Well... About three weeks ago I set out on a mission. I thought I had put my forging days to rest, when one day browsing the website I came across a map. It was a cops and robbers map. Out of all of these maps I have seen all of them have been just incredibly bland, they usually are not to fun, and just really don't work in general.

While this map just used the basic Cops n' Robbers game type I'm guessing was found here on Forge Hub, I saw incredible potential to make this work. To revive Cops n' Robbers and set a new bar for how these maps should be made. I kept messing with the game, seeing how I could twist and bend the rules to make it work. Well, to say the least I ended up nailing it. I had created a rule system for this game that flows like freaking water.

After messing with this map for a while, I needed something more. I knew If I could nail the Cops n' Robbers formula, then I know after all my experience making maps that I could create the perfect map.

That was all three weeks ago, and yesterday the map was completed. It has turned into my masterpiece. I have never been so proud of any map I've ever made.

I can't explain it. Everything plays out so well it's just wonderful. The map and game just has so much depth to it it's crazy. It will never, ever play out the same twice. It's just so deep. It's like the more you dive into it the more it has to offer to you, and it's just turned out to be such a satisfying and rewarding experience. The map innovates a lot as well I feel.

I don't know, it's just been everything with this map has gone right and I'm very proud of it. It is currently being edited and polished. Removing the sharp edges and getting everything down to really make it shine.

Look forward to the map sometime around this weekend in the casual maps section. Thanks

I recently tried to make an awesome honour-rule free cops and robbers but was hindered only by the Custom powerup duration not being able to be set to infinite.

This sounds quite exciting because I have longed for a good, well made cops and robbers map and gametype.

Trio, ha that's funny because I ran into a similar issue with the custom power ups as well. It ended up playing out a lot better with a 90-second duration though. Send me an FR if you would like to help do some testing and get a sneak peak.

Cops and robbers needs to be killed, buried, dug up, pissed on, buried again, dug up again, ground up into glue, ingested by some kid, crapped out, collected in a jar, buried yet again, then nuked.

It's pointless, drawn out, and just plain stupid. I don't want to spend hours teabagging the ground because some whiny kid demands I do it or else get killed (at his leisure).

No, it's more like cops and robbers needs to be done right. Look man, anyone good at forging can make a slayer/ts/objective map. The real challenge is when you go out into the blue, and create your own game. Not just build a neat looking cage and tell everyone to go wild and kill each other.

I think Cops and Robbers can be done right, it's just a very, very difficult thing to do. I definitely think this is why so many of these maps are just beyond fail. You have to really hit that sweet spot to make it work. Everything has to be balanced, and that's what I feel I've achieved with my map.

My map is constructed in a way, to make *** holes want to play the game. I've spent so much time on jacking the fun factor of this game up to the highest levels. Balancing everything. The balance between the Cops and the Robbers is just great. It almost in a way reminds me of the splinter cell games in multiplayer. There are two teams that both have their own agenda, and both have a goal they are trying to reach. Yet the difference between the teams is like night and day.

Something.. I'm pretty new to the site and you seem like a jack ***, but I would appreciate it if you wait until you see the final product before you **** your pants again like that.

The difference between making a competitive map vs. a casual map is night and day. With slayer/ts whatever maps, your only real worries are how you're going to build it, and where to put the BR's. For a casual map, take all that, build the map, balance it, and create a working gametype that is solid, very fun, and balanced.

    /end rant

Map is completed and I am finished with the testing, editing, and polishing stage. Going to work on the photos, diagrams of the map, and the topic tonight. Look forward to it sometime early tomorrow afternoon. The map is playing great and is just so much fun.

No offense, but anyone here who isn't a nub those of us who can actually forge will never, ever, ever ever ever ever ever ever even look at a cops and robbers map just because the game itself is just ridiculous. It's like trying to play house over the internet. If anyone tries to say to me "but it's fun!" go back to preschool and pretend to be a mommy when you are a boy.

I agree, I don't think the maps are bad, its the game play. How is anyone meant to win?
The cops can't win unless the robbers escape.
The robbers can only win by killing the cops.
I think the Cops and Robbers gametype should be improved before we try making better maps. A good custom game should be easy to hop in to and get the hang of the rules quickly, like Hobo Heights is obvious (survive for the time) and Grifball is just Assault.

I think to bring C&R to the spotlight the gametype needs to be made better.
