After Shock wrote up that impressive message to us about trying to keep the forging community alive by supporting each other on maps and not spamming so much I had an idea on how to help people actually get some game time on the maps they want to comment on. But many people are like me and have a hard time getting a decent sized group together. Hell I posted a map 2 weeks ago and still have not been able to get a group to play it successfully. TGIF, pretty much the biggest event for Forgehub is all about featured maps and lately maps that the hosts think are good. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't help people play on some of the more obscure maps made by un-known entities of the site. So my idea was for me to host a party on TGIF, just somewhere at the bottom, where people would recommend maps to me using the system Bungie already has in place for that, or I post a thread a week before the TGIF asking for maps, I download it and then we play it. Then anyone who was in on that game could go and comment on the experience and I myself would write up an in-depth review of the map talking about things that worked and things that needed some improvement. You may be worried about having to play maps that are just horrible. That is a worry. I really don't want to spend my day playing map after map that just plain sucked. Best way to solve that, if the map sucks I end the game and we move on. If people get bored and leave I'm sure others will take their place which actually helps us cause it means we get more maps to play. So, Good idea? Bad Idea? Suggestions? EDIT: Do not make map suggestions here.
Well, since I'm not signed up for TGIF 15, I'll keep an eye out for your party if I do get on Halo tomorrow night.
It wont be for this TGIF, not enough notice really. I'm sure people will want to go looking through the maps before the jump in.
I am fully behind this idea. It will give many maps the chance to get the limelight they deserve. If, and when this happens. I will stay in the party for the entire time. Good luck Texan.
Any map. Do you think I wont use this to finally get to play my map once? lol. However, like I said in the OP, if enough people say it sucks (even mine) I end the game.
Lol, people need to go have a look at how the TGIF is run. YOU send the friends request to one of 3 accounts FH TGIF 1, FH TGIF 2 or FH TGIF 3. Then using the view friends feature when looking at the TGIF account profile, you look for a host (noted by the bunny as their gamer pic) and if there is a spare place, you join. This allows you to move from party to party. I'm not a host for this TGIF, but if this works and I get accepted despite being an "Infamous" member and being warned at the moment, then I will be one for the next TGIF.
lol my bad waylander....I suggest putting fave creeks up definetely, as well as snow mice (epicly legendly always needs to be TGIF) and also botanica/ramparts, as well as shotties in a can (too epic for life)
Ok, added this to the first post. Do not make map suggestions here. This is just a thread asking for support and help making sure things will run smoothly if I'm allowed to do this. But that does ring up another point. I might make a thread the weekend before TGIF for people to post their suggestions, would also give me a chance to go through and see if there are any really bad maps.
Also, you dont have to do this at TGIF. You could surely get enough people for a regular game. I could help arrange it if you decide to go the non-official path.
Its not a bad idea, I'll see if we can make "community maps" into something more official. Of course, poor maps would be passed upon, but those which look good or decent could be played.
I really like this idea. A TGIF party made specifically for cummunity maps. It could show off your map in front of other forgehub users so they can post and show everybody how ggod it plays instead of how good it looks. Most people comment before they play the map anyway. This could change with the wonderful idea. There should be a few parties for this cause instead of just 1. I jnow I would love to play and I am sure alot of other people would too!
