All hope is gone

Wow. Nice post! Although I do not listen to slipknot, I will listen to them now. + Rep

 

Your first impressions of each song, while commendable, are severly lacking.

If you were a true Slipknot fan, which I can tell you are not, you would not have skipped to the next song once the "random screaming" began. If that is what you think it is then you have clearly never listened to a Slipknot song.

This album is more diverse than anything they have done so far, offering a spectrum of sounds, screams, melodies, and thought provoking lyrics. It may not be traditional Slipknot in the sense that it adheres more to Subliminal Verses with a touch of Stone Sour, but the title track, among others, proves that they can still bring it. Couple that with some slower songs such as Snuff, which is incredible, and you have a kick ass album that was clearly made with blood, sweat, and tears.

Leave the review of a bands new album to a real fan next time. And if you doubt that I am a real fan just ask me about the Slipknot tattoo I have on my arm that has been there since 1999.

 

i listened to the whole thing. while there are a few moments, i still just cant find the qualities i once loved about this band the moment i found their album on the newly released shelf in 99.

 

I felt the same way about Korn soon after Follow The Leader. Nothing Slipknot releases will match their debut album, but I am personally all for change and my music taste has changed so much over the years that I am able to enjoy a wide spectrum of music. I try not to compare what I was accustomed to originally to newer stuff too often.

 

fair enough. i guess even when viewing it separately from their debut, i just dont like what i hear. even when pretending that the debut cd doesnt exist. they've just grown out of my taste range.

and as for korn, that band DIED when Head left.

I've been listening to them since i was 9, and im 22 now, so ive always been a huge fan.

Head went into rehab and kicked his Meth addiction, and he realised that it wasnt the lifestyle he envisioned. Like most recovering substance abusers, he turned heavily to christianity.

If you can get past the lyrical subject matter, hes releasing a solo cd that trumps the **** out of anything korn has done for many years. I honestly believe he solely wrote all of their material... listen and you'll know what im saying. It would further be backed by how Korns music and signature sound fell apart when he left.

i honestly think that the new album is a flop. its not slipknot. its stone sour sound with slipknot guitar and drums. its a dissapointment

 

Did you like subliminal verses? Cause I think this album is heavier than that.

Why can't a band change a little bit, huh? If bands didn't evolve then they would be 311.....Same album over and over again. Do you really want the artists you like to release the same stuff over and over again? And Slipknot made it before Stone Sour. Stone Sour failed as a band and disappeared, then it was revived by Corey. Corey is Corey and is a huge influence on the sound of both bands, so inevitably they will eventually sound similar. This is a good album, it doesn't always have to be screaming that nobody really understands. If that's what you want then go buy a Six Feet Under CD, or any of the other bands that sound exactly the same and keep releasing the same record again and again.

 

I like a few slipknot songs, but they just aren't for me. I don't like metal like that just because I think there is too much thrashing and not enough verbage.
