    ZOMBIE HIGHWAY
    1

    Name: Zombie Highway
Description: A small mountain road, the last stand of man.

    (original bungie description)
Originally thought up as a vehicle map based on MCQ22's 'traffic jam' joke map from Operation Recon 2, once I started to I create the valley a new reason came to mind.

Imagine a valley the only feature there is, is the highway and a small guard station.

Littered on the highway are trucks and cars[forklifts] engines still running, weapons scattered all around. All around the highway are the mountain walls of the valley, it seems peaceful enough then from the sides pours Zombies. A trap and you fell for it.

    Defenders: Humans.
Human's start at the highway's entrace to the valley. In select infections types a warthog WILL respawn otherwise your out in the open for a few seconds as you head towards the valley and more weapons.

    Attackers: Zombies.
You start on the backside of the valley. The fresh meat will come but you need to get into the valley and find them.

    You have four paths.
    One under the guard station,
A grav lift to a crack in the valley side,
Using the 'tree's' [teleporters] as cover.
and a one way hop though a small gap near where the human's spawn. [it's a hop on a box side then a hop through a gap made by a wall corner.]

There are three power weapons and one power up.

A rocket launcher is a car[forklift] hop away. It helps to know where your heading.
A shotgun lays somewhere on the highway, a trucker must have held them off for a while.
A Sniper rifle lays in a high cave near some trees.
The gaurd was a tough old bird who could hide in plain sight.

A small cache of alien weapons and grenades are down below in the valley floor. But once your down you have only a few ways out. look before you leap.

And that's my version 1 of this map. Finnished 3-20-08.

After a few months of play with it off an on someone mentioned I had gotten so good at forge why didn't I go about remaking some of my older maps. That got me thinking and so I quickly set about remaking it.

It was large but not alot of space to move or hide from the zombies with obvious holes in the side of the valley. For my very first map I thought it was excellent. 5 months later i am almost embarrased to even put it up. But I'd like to see what people's thoughts are the remake.

    ZOMBIE HIGHWAY
    2

    Name: Zombie Highway2
Description: All word was lost from both teams that entered the valley, tunnels have been sealed. Now we enter, watch your surroundings.

Obviously it's more closed in. The highway is now more cramped as if hundred of people were fleeing when they were caught in the valley. The road now even has concrete dividers, to make it look more realistic. Instead of the sloping round wall, sheer cliffs now surround the map.
Above the tunnel there is a control room where the few survivors from the zombies are holding up in.
The road on the first map was blocked off by a landslide in this version. Sometimes it's smart to hide there, other times... it's a death sentence as objects continue to fall throughout the game.

Humans: Most meat... I mean Humans spawn in a small compartment that is protected by a shield door. Don't trust that door. after 30-45 seconds a gav lift will spawn and push you out of the hidy holes and right into a speedy zombies sword. Movement into a more open area is the key to living longer.
Three will be the remaining humans in the valley, up in the control room. look around you and the signs above the tunnel some extra weapons will be around.

Zombies: Zombies spawn in two places as well. A few will be spawning on the highway, roaming around looking for food, the rest will spawn on the valley floor below the highway. A teleporter near the valley wall will send you to one of three locations. However, beware any other sender.

Weapons: There is a mass of weapons on the map, however they all have low ammo. And once the ammo is used up, that's it. They never spawn again.
    1-Snipe Rifle- One extra clip
    1-Rocket-Two shots
    2-Shotguns-6 rounds each.
    2-ARs-Ammo varies on location.
    3-BRs-Ammo varies on location.
    3-Magnums-Ammo-varies on location.
And for a special treat a flamethrower spawns on the road sign above the highway. It'll keep you alive... while it lasts.

Death barriers: On this map I began using death barriers which will become a standard for my maps in general. As I said one sender which is located in the valley floor is safe, any other means death. If you try to get out of the map above the control room or spawn outside of the map you will run into teleporters. These will send you directly into a dead zone. So a fair warning. Don't cheat.

C&C welcome. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

This map looks Ok, I guess. I can see that you took your time posting this and making it because There is a lot of Information that I have just read. I might download, I'm not too sure, BUT if you want to see a highway, Then go search for Spartan Highway. That's what I call a highway. 4/5 for your map, Seems pretty good for Infection.

Hey this looks pretty good for a highway map. Infection could be fun on this, I might DL if I have room. Keep up the good work.

The map looks decent, but it looks extremely messy. The way you interlocked the boxes in the backround could be redone, It seems that you were rushing on this map. Take your time if you redo it.

I disagree, i think the boxes were made like that on purpose, to add to the can-yon-ee feel...errr. I think its a pretty good idea, and is pretty well forged. good job, keep up the good work.

Wow, this looks increadable. It's like a race track and an infection map in one and done well, my only complaint is that the bottom area seems pretty bare so the zombies may notice alot of bullets in face but if I'm wrong please tell me otherwise. Either way this looks like it's awesome!

It was left messy on purpose as to make it look craggy. This was an attempt to make it look less like a wall and more like a cliff face.

Agreed. However I found that adding more objects onto the map made it lagg, as well as when i added sheild doors to mimic water and provide cover most people hopped down into said 'water' and spawn killed zombies.
As the map is as i have given you, smart people don't tend to stick their heads out over the side, as zombies even in the basic halo3 gametypes can jump higher than normal and will rip the human's face off.
I spent a week trying to decide to keep the sheilds before deciding to remove them.

If I remember correctly I left the originals outside the map so you MAY put the water back in. I also left the weapons and powerups. that way you can add whatever you feel to make a version completely your own.
