As you may have noticed, I ended the old Van Nevis Chat Thread in dedication to Furious D 18. He will be missed. This new thread will continue on the old one. But I would like to give you some history about the name. On an old site called Achievement Junkie too people met. I started a 1000 post thread there and they chatted away in it. Then when that was done new chat threads started. They used them so much that it was called the Van Nevis Chat Thread. It sometimes would have different names, but they grow to like each other through the forums. Then he asked her to marry him. I brought the name from Achievement Junkie to Forge Hub. Achievement Junkie merged with other podcasters and now is Talking About Games. I hope that everyone likes the thread and respects it. You can see what the other Van Nevis Chat thread over at Talking About Games here. Enjoy!
I miss the old nostalga of the first FH Van Nevis Chat Thread....we need Furious to post in here...just like the old times. Anyways....has anyone noticed the increase of angered users around here lately? It seems some of the Bungie.net trouble makers are migrating over here. May the ban hammer be swift.
Lol yep. I did notice that. There are way to many people here complaining, and in most cases for no reason. Also it seems like the site has slowed down a lot. Maybe because school is just barely starting, but there aren't nearly as many people on late at night as before.
or the introduction of the debate section slightly killed it....a good majority of debating went down here....which was nice because the younger folk seemed to avoid it. The debating was much more civil here....ah the good days.
I'm old.... nah jk I'm new. I didn't use the original thread much. I think the debates really happen everywhere, so the debate thread is unnecessary.
Let's debate about it. Anyway, new topic: phobias. Was that in the old one? I don't like looking over the tops of tall buildings, but I'm fine in an Airplane.
OMG me too. or tall boats even. i can be on one... but i can't go near the edge. i'm like "omge! i'm going to fall!"
[back to the old topic for a quick bit] Man, I was quite attached to the old VNCT. The debate board..., well it made me mad. VN never made me mad. [/old topic] Phobias.... I have absolutely no fear of heights. I killed off any of that I may have ever had by jumping out of planes... I do have the fear of public speaking, just public attention in general. It's something I'm working on, though.
Awesome the Van Nevis Chat thread has been reborn. Hooray Back on topic: I dont have any serious phobias. Possibly arachnaphobia; I do really hate spiders. But not to the point where they terrify me to the point of screaming and running. Some phobias sound really silly, especially tetraphobia; a fear of the number 4.
I don't like being around busy roads it gives me chills. (If you remember the old Van Nevis Chat thread you will know why.) Back to last topic for a sec, I think the Van nevis Chat thread was dying before the Debate forum came around anyways, there was noting we could do I guess it just ran iits course. Hopefully some of the newer members here could revitalise the thread.
This is moving slowly, I propose a new topic. Ghosts, so any weird or supernatural stories, lest discuss them.
So he's a ghost now? lol I watched the last 40 minutes of the Exorcist last night. I lol'd. I just love the part where he goes "accept jesus as your lord and savior" and she just screams "**** HIM!" I chuckled at that. For its time though its a terrifying movie. Up until you actually watch it are you not frightened by the face.
Okay, here's Klink's big secret interest: The Quantum Unknown. Mmhmm. The book "How To Build A Time Machine" by Paul Davies is a great start, and I'm also watching this. Thanks to Jonathan Aquino who blogged about it.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia Most ironic phobia. I don't like the pressure of sports. I like to play them, but to support. Not to shoot the ball, but pass. Not to catch a deep pass, but to block.
That phobia is pretty hilarious. I actually have major Arachnaphobia. and I can't quite remember the name, (bugs in general). I don't know why, just always had this. I used to be deathly afraid of heights, but I grew out of that, which is awesome, there are so many things you can do without being afraid of heights!
I am afraid of Carnival rides. i.e.: The single loop thing that goes in circles thousands of times and stops upside down. I almost shet my pants riding that. I don't think they are safe at all. It was all rickety rockety.
